Hey, J.

I've always thought of this one as "standout value".
Thanks, mate.

Always thought MDA plugs were for VST. Now they have AU plugs. Detune is great for lead guitars and a Leslie emulator is always cool.

Some have mentioned http://www.soundhack.com/freeware.php already, but I downloaded the bundle for the "compander". I've always wanted to have a compansion plug (after learning about Dolby NR used in tape recording). I haven't messed with it much yet, but hopefully its decent.

Warp Drive - AU, Universal Binary

2 parameters: saturation & volume
from the website:
"Distortion That's Out Of This World!
Tired of using the same old distortion plugins? Check out Warp Drive AU. It's an Audio Unit which is based on a completely non-conventional distortion algorithm."

I couldn‘t install them myself till I realized they aren‘t UB yet. But I see you‘re on a G5, so this shouldn‘t be the problem.
have you installed the latest pluggo runtime?

Excellent noise reduction
Hi all,
This little gem has saved my worthless hide on more than one occasion:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
http://www.networkworld.com/community/?q=node/2300
Audacity is a free audio editor and recorder, one of its features being noise reduction. More and more, I'm tending to prefer Audacity over Soundsoap 2. As an experiment I turned on the airconditioner and a fan to generate some background noise. I then recorded a test vocal track right there in the middle of the studio, and of course the track was unuseable. I then processed it through Audacity's noise reduction, and it came out as clean as a whistle. Yesssss! I'd be interested to hear other comments and opinions about Audacity. (I haven't yet used it for anything other than noise reduction).
Cheers,
Geoff

Gee, thank you Mike.
Every 9/11 (my birthday), my heart goes out to the US.
Actually, it starts several weeks prior.
It hit me (I watched it in real-time from the word go) as hard as any yank (Aussie term of endearment) who didn't lose family in the tragedy, I can tell you.
Your sentiment means an awful lot to me, Mike.
I'm sure Geoff also would appreciate your yearly gesture.
Good on ya, mate, and thank you!

Maybe I should have gone through the entire thread to make sure this wasn't mentioned already, but here's an "updated" list (at least at the time of publication) of 100 of the best free plugins from createdigitalmusic.com

Thanks Hobby.
I got so excited I almost jumped out of my fur, then I realised they're all for Windoze.
Is this one of those embarrassing surprises you spoke of in another thread?
It's difficult to imagine a fallen hobbit, so I hope the remaining revelations are equally as benign...
Your perpetually-confused, furry pal.
