ProTools is the only host on the Mac that doesn't use the standard drag and drop technique. That's why only the proprietary sampler from Digi can drag and drop samples from the sequencer. ProTools is a very closed world and Digi really makes everything possible to keep it that way.3over3 wrote:I think the "in DP" bit is the important issue there... I've not found a way to do it in PT yet to be honest. Hooray for universality!

Not only does it record and playback MIDI and Audio, but it also stores your food!

I hear you on that. It's just too bad that two weeks ago digidesign announced their sampler and I got a demo from our local dealer in the mail today. It's just a beta version, but at least they've been delivering on their promises.3over3 wrote:... yes, it feels like an ivory tower. Say what you will about Digidesign and all their •••• they pull as a company, but I haven't been lied to by them.
When I worked at an MI shop I was told by MOTU (I directly talked with the company) that it would flawlessly import ALL Giga, Symphonic, and Ethno. Well, I quit and started working at a studio. I bought M5 remembering how cool it looked. Well, I had Giga on a dedicated PC and I installed M5. Nope, doesn't import the giga samples at all. Not a single one. Next tried Symphonic. Nope. Not a single one. And Ethno? Nope. Not even close to importing it. Oh, why is this? Because they only updated the newest version on mac. And I'm sure not going to spend the extra money to buy the mac version since we have nothing but Intel macs.
I wasted a lot of money buying Symphonic, Mach Five and Ethno and have had great luck using Symphonic and Ethno on the intel's doing scratch parts for string ensambles and the such, but that's not why I bought them.
Please Motu? At least update the PC version just enough so I can create samples from Symphonic and Ethno. Pretty please?
Mach Five looked so cool when I used it in standalone mode. I just want to be able to, well, use it in a professional setting. Please?

From what I've heard, they may not lie to you, but they won't tell you the whole truth either.i am monster face wrote:... Say what you will about Digidesign and all their •••• they pull as a company, but I haven't been lied to by them.
