Re: 4.5 and 4.12 work together
Is there any disadvantage to doing this (instaling DP 4.52 in addition to 4.12)? The only plugins I am using now are Stylus RMX and Reason 3.0. I am soon going to buy several others. If I had 4.52 and 4.12 installed, could I still use Spectrasonics Trilogy in 4.12?

Are you saying MOTU changed the software in 4.52 but did not tell anyone instead of offering a version change????
If that's true, that is a core sin and I won't accept that.
If it's true then I am through with MOTU. Please confirm this.
I'm not sure whether or not they made some sort of official announcement, but Josh from tech support did post about it here at UnicorNation. Here's the link:

Re: 4.5 and 4.12 work together
Installing 4.52 and keeping 4.12 sounds like something I would be interested in. That way, I could use Trilogy in 4.12 and use 4.52 for whatever works well in it. Does this sound like a good idea? Is there any reason I wouldn't want to do this? Thanks.

I could always try it and delete 4.52 if it doesn't work well for me, right?

Andy.
It won't hurt the system, and alot of people have reverted back to 4.12. That's the only advantage of doing this. Does save time instead of reinstalling everything again. I myself haven't had any problems with the MIDI situation, but I tested it only to answer the question, Can you run both?
I don't have Trilogy in my arsenal, but I would assume you could. Maybe someone else could chime in with that info.

Re: 4.5 and 4.12 work together
NO, it's not a good idea and it doesn't work. When you install 4.52, MAS, prefs and plugs are all modified and 4.12 then shares those modified components. Trilogy will then be broken in both programs and the only way to fix it will be to completely uninstall 4.52, including all the components I mentioned above.Originally posted by Andy:

Re: 4.5 and 4.12 work together
I have dp 4.52 two 896s a G4 dual 1gig and 1.5 gig of ram. Two uad-1 cards with altiverb. My MIDI works fine when I pull out altiverb from the mas folder and the uad from the components folder I find that dp works ok when its by its self. When you add the others, thats when problems start to develope, and they the thrid party plug- ins must update there software. Uad 3.8 works better in dp 4.52 but pops and cpu spikes happen when you first run through the song then things smooth out because the latency adjusts. When mixing you should have inputs on tracks assigned to none. It can get frustrating
so any tip is welcome.
Thanks
