So it's now Apple, Inc. People are still switching to Macs, so it should be at least a few years before the computers are discontinued. JK. But at least you'll be able to get your OSX fix from using your phone.

I think it was the logical step. Apple is no longer about the Macintosh. They're a media company, a software company, and a design company. They make the least amount of money on their computers.

The switch to Intel HW was (IMO) the first step in getting rid of the computer HW end completely. Mac OS X will be licensed and spec'd to run on specific HW configurations (ala NextStep). Can't you see it now "thank you for ordering from Dell, please choose the Operating System you want pre-installed on your system [] Windows [] Mac OS X [] Linux"

You'll be able to save a bundle on your next "mac", but you'll still pay a premium for your iPod & Apple TV and the iPhone and...

I guess when they won the lawsuit brought by Apple (records), it freed up Apple (computers) to discontinue the chararade. I do love Apple hardware though... the design and build quality is always a pleasure.
