Dead 828??

Post by RMC206 »

My 828 MK I lights up but does not appear in the set up options. No device seen, no sound. I've changed cables and reinstalled the dirver. The other forum posts did not mention whether the 828 still lights up. Off to repair???

828 problems

Post by bryantewell »

My 828 does the exact same thing, optical out light is on, clock blinks and stops at 48. Computer (system profiler, cuemix, motu audio setup) doesnt recognize device. I just bought it on ebay, and everything looks to be in good working order. I heard a myth about resetting the unit through taking it apart and doing something. I thought hey maybe there's a sweet reset button in there. So i ended up having to go to the hardware store, pay $3 for the exat drill bit (a really small star screw) I took the unit apart, and the only thing I see is a jumper (for bypassing the main out/phone out volume knobs) and a potentiometer for who knows what. But nothing like a reset button. Anybody know what I'm trying to do? because I dont.

Hey bryantwelle. You can reset the 828 mk II (not sure about I, sorry) by detaching your firewire cable from the back panel and pressing in the Setup knob on the front panel. Then turn it to the right until a screen that says Factory Defaults appears. Press the select knob and follow instructions. Keep us posted.
