tube mic and 48v phantom

Post by daniel.sneed »

anyone using a transfo-tube mic, still keeping 48v on ?

the data sheet of my SCT2000 says I should not.

Seems strange to me, for I always keep 48v on for all mic inputs.

I've mailed to Thomann's tech-support, but no answer yet.

I'm not familiar with that microphone at all, but every tube mic I've ever seen has a power supply for it already and thus why phantom power isn't needed, because power is already being supplied.
Thank you,

Thanks for chiming in Brad, yes this IS the case here. Real heavy powersupply.

But what about sending UNUSED phantom to that thing ?

On my mixer 48v is switched on for 6 inputs at once.
Very disturbing in my connecting workflow indeed.

In fact, my question is about YOUR transfo-tube-mics and YOUR 48v.
