FreeMidi and OMS under Classic mode/OSX 10.4.11

Post by miket »

My goal is to use Opcode Galaxy plus Editors again under classic mode.

Actually my sistem consists in an Apple Macintosh G4 1.25DP, OSX 10.4.11 and three MIDI Express 128, several synth and expanders.

If I boot with MacOS 9.2.2 FreeMidi qnd OMS run well and recognize the MIDI interfaces. Thus I can run Galaxy plus Editors
If I boot with OSX 10.4.11, interfaces are recognized without glitches, but I can run just Digital Performer and other music softwares.

But if I load Classic mode, only OMS succeed recognizing a small 2x2 Midisport interface, thus allowing me running Opcode Galaxy plus Editors.
Although both OMS and FreeMidi have their folder within OS9 System Folder that contain USB interface MIDI drivers, neither OMS nor FreeMidi recognize the three MIDI Express 128.

What gives?
I need serious help.
Thanks in advance
Michele

I don't think that the MOTU driver for the Express 128s was ever meant to work in Classic mode. Unfortunately, you may have to continue booting to OS 9 (instead of using Classic mode in OS X) in order to make full use of those interfaces.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

Thanks 1input1output.

And it's strange that relatively small companies such as Midiman (Midisport)create good drivers that run both under Mac OS9.x, OSX and Classic Mode.
