FWIW I use a 1st gen Macbook, an ultralite and 5.11 on location about 3 days/week. I'm doing classical audio, usually 6-8 tracks @ 24/44.1 and while I'm not dealing with any sync situations (as you may be) it's been rock solid for 7-8 months.

It may be moot at this point but if it's still an issue, use the ethernet port. It's slow (10baseT) but start it, go to bed and when you get up all the tracks will be in your computer. I have the fireport and I agree with Brad that it's great but you don't need to spend the $ on it if it's a one-tim...

My personal experience FWIW is that a MacBook (plain) is a BIG improvement over a powerbook G4. My $.02 would be to get a MacBook now, Pro or not, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. My PB is admittedly old (1 GHz, 1GB ram) but it's usless for anything other than office work. I do location work for a living (bo...
