Re: New Mac Firewire
I was curious about this, so I did a quick search and found that at least one person had success by booting Lion in 32-bit mode. (They said to hold down the 3 and the 2 number keys during start-up). Worth a try. In that same thread, another person said that the tascam worked but was glitchy. Another...

recording tap tempo temporarily silences audio playback
I am trying to tap tempo while monitoring a single audio track. I record-enable the conductor track and have tap tempo set to have 4 count-off taps. The problem I have is that when I start tapping tempo, and the sequence starts to play, the audio track sometimes takes several seconds to come on. I.e...

Re: Rosetta broken in 10.6.8 update?
With the suggested Time Machine fix, is there a way to go to the older system, but keep changes in the user folder?

Re: Mixing for mp3: Dither?
That's interesting. Thanks for posting your results.
I just wanted to chime in that I had posted some 24-bit mp3's that would not play at all in a webstreaming situation. Had to dither the AIF masters down to 16, then re-encode. That worked. So with some players, not all mp3's are treated the same.

I think there's a brackets option in the score options page.

Re: Broken MIDI output assigments for instrument tracks
Thanks, that's a good idea. I won't be able to make them exactly the same, because one is a PPC and one is a MBP, different MIDI controllers, drivers, etc. But I'll look at some of those other factors. Another thing I need to mess with more is the INSTRUMENTS tab on the bundles window. I'm going to ...

Re: does the DP update give any hope for an updated Unisyn?
I was re-acquainting myself with Unisyn as a possible solution to a particular problem. I can see why it would be difficult for MOTU to justify spending resources on Unisyn when they don't sell it much, and the technology seems to be moving in a different direction. However, it still has a big role ...

Re: Best technique for removing digital clicks
I have successfully edited out clicks and pops in the waveform editor with the pencil tool. It's tedious, but very effective for some clicks. You look at the waveform and make some assumptions about where it would have gone had the click not been there. If you guess right it comes out almost perfec...

Broken MIDI output assigments for instrument tracks
I have some of the same VI's on my laptop as on my tower. In particular, I use Apple's DLS instrument, or pianoteq for quick arranging tasks. The problem I'm having is that every time I go from my laptop to my tower or vice versa, either the DLS instrument track or the output assignments from the MI...

Re: Apple's MainStage2 for $29 in the App Store - Killer Liv
If a person has a speedy enough computer, all the VI's they need from within DP, and the ability to create the (t)racks needed, it is doable. And it adds some other options for some other stuff. As mentioned though, MS2 provides GREAT instruments that may be interesting to many; good loops, easily a...

Re: Apple's MainStage2 for $29 in the App Store - Killer Liv
I think for that you would need to go to the interface of the VI itself and set key-ranges in there. Another option would be to use your controller to set different key-ranges on specific MIDI channels then channelize the sounds.

Re: Zoom Tool Question
I restored the default commands and still if I click, then hit OPTION, then drag, it merely moves the note without copying. So perhaps there is something you have changed in your COMMANDS that allows this work-around. I'll do some experimenting. Thanks, Shooshie. (wish I could pick your brain for an...

Re: Zoom Tool Question
I know this is an older thread, but it continues to be an issue. Unfortunately, Shooshie's suggestion to press OPTION after clicking doesn't work. It just moves the notes without dragging a copy. I constantly drag copies of MIDI notes, so it is a really important function. Of course, we all zoom and...

Re: MIDI Graphic Editor: question & LONG overdue gripe
First, on scrolling (while selecting), if you drag past the edge of the window horizontally it appears to scroll quickly for a second, then starts going MORE quickly. No way to slow that down. Vertically, it just goes quickly no matter how long you scroll. It would be SO GREAT if MOTU would let us c...

Re: MIDI Graphic Editor: question & LONG overdue gripe
Can you control the scrolling by regulating how far off window your cursor is? For me, the "pain" of this is that the graphic editor used to work so much faster and easier. I guess I could try to install an older version on an older computer, but the trade-off is that it will be crashy aga...
