I agree. I use Record for all timestretching.

Re: Slow down a soundbite

Point being (or is that bean?) vari-speed is far from what most would call "essential." Stinks, I know. For anyone who is engaged in sound design, it is absolutely essential. Fortunately I happen to own Live for vari-speed but I would love to have it in DP and not have to switch programs.

Re: Edit edge copy in MIDI tab ?

The shape tool works for me and in fact you're right, it might be a better way to change velocity. I'd gotten used to using the pointer.
Might be time to change my ways....

Re: Edit edge copy in MIDI tab ?

The velocities have to be exactly the same for this to occur (as would be the case with copied notes stacked). So the selected note's velocity is literally sitting behind the original and cannot be accessed. In Reason, for example, you select the note and then hold Shift to alter the velocity of onl...

Re: Edit edge copy in MIDI tab ?

Just tested this and get the same thing.
The velocity value is hidden but selecting the notes doesn't make it available. Using 7.22 currently. Seems like a truly basic thing.

Re: DP7.23 update posted

I too have never understood the need for Snapshot automation. I've read the chapter, have a few of my own "tutorial" test projects to try it out but just never use it. Maybe I still don't understand it. It just seems to clutter up the screen with unwanted data. I use my own presets and dra...

MIDI Life Crisis wrote: If anyone has Proverb working in 7.23, please post that here. If you can confirm loading and saving user presets as well as the drop down mini menu working, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

All of the above working perfectly for me in 7.23.

Re: Is SampleTank compatible with DP?

Works for me here in 7.22. Does it crash as soon as you add the instrument?
I just noticed I get an DP error notice when I try to add the "mono" version but the stereo one works fine.
What's your OS?
If you can't get it to work, have you tried the built in MOTU sampler?

If you can mute a soundbite, (a feature, although I'm aware of it, I've never used), you should probably be able to mute a MIDI note(s).

Re: Again one rookie stupid question... :|

I'm sure different folks have different reasons to use it, about which I'd also be curious to hear. My feeling would be it's a tool more suitable for electronic music, where often repetition and groove are of paramount importance and people will spend hours just working on a 4 bar loop....but I'm su...

Re: Again one rookie stupid question... :|

The Drum Editor has a mute feature but it will mute all instances of a particular note. It is understood that the Drum Editor is not only for drum tracks but any MIDI track. To answer MLC, this feature is handy to quickly mute notes in a riff/ lick/ drum pattern to try out different variations. As y...

Re: Quality Sounds

I would say Komplete is geared more towards sound design. If you're really not looking for synthetic type sounds then you'll end up with a load of stuff you'll never use Komplete is a fantastic deal, loads of great stuff but if it's just authentic sounding "real" instruments you're after, ...

Re: Who here actually produces as their day job?

Music has been my only source of income since 2003. Having said that my wife has a good day job and a lot of patience! In truth, I spend most of my time these days minding our kids. I know plenty of people who have forsaken the idea of having kids because of their music careers. But over the years I...
