Re: Firewire Pres (I'm truly stuck)

What about something like the UA 4-710d? It's 4 pre-amps that outputs to optical. And you can even connect up to 4 extra inputs too if you add additional pre amps later. Yep. This is next on my list after I buy my 896mkIII. 4 hybrid pres that you can dial in how much tube or solid state sound you w...

Re: DP7 Controller Apps for iPad

You say it's for use with iPad. Has it been upgraded to take full advantage of the iPad's larger screen or is it just an iPhone app running on an iPad?

Re: DP8 announced: 64 bits and available for Windows!

It's not so much that I'm a PC hater, I just hate PCs! Honestly, I've been using a Mac with Performer/DP since '86 or whenever it first came out. As far as I'm concerned the two are one. They go hand in hand. Even though DP has some dated functionality and runs somewhat counter intuitive to O...

Re: DP8 announced: 64 bits and available for Windows!

I know I'm being pessimistic here... bear with me. I just can't see developing for Windoze as anything but bad news for us or MOTU... or really even PC users. For us, I think development will slow and customer service, if there was any to begin with, will go completely down the tubes. MOTU's resourc...

Re: MASTERING with DP

Probably gotten more commercial mileage out of Waveburner than the rest of the Logic package combined to this point, somewhat justifying the money invested in it. So true. I use Waveburner and Compressor more than anything else. Sorry I spent all the money for it, but these two are quite handy. Tri...

Try increasing the buffer pre-load setting.

Re: DP and VCC

What version of DP are you running? I had issues with DP 7.21 or maybe it was 7.22 with sluggish meters and missing MIDI notes. Try upgrading to 7.24 - it's free - and see if your meter issues go away. Mine certainly did.

Re: IRCAM Stretch audio in future DP update?.Please!

... there's not one out there that even remotely makes me want to leave DP, and somehow I get the feeling that the best years are yet to come. Totally agree. But always "pushing" to see DP be the DAW of all DAWs. I am LOVING DP7.24! If it had only been possible to see and edit the beats i...

Re: IRCAM Stretch audio in future DP update?.Please!

Nope, Shoosh. You're wrong. DP didn't always suck. Geez. Quit slagging it off! I wasn't saying that at all. I just think DP's time and pitch features have fallen behind the curve. I've had some success with DP's features in the past, but sometimes it falls grossly short. Looking at Logic's ti...

Re: IRCAM Stretch audio in future DP update?.Please!

I wouldn't expect Mach Five to "complete" DP! I'm sure it's a great product. I'm sure it will work well with DP? But I wouldn't expect it's features to be integrated into DP other than any other sampler plug-in. Even if the time-stretching algorithm is developed by a French company, there'...

Re: MOTU PCI to Thunderbolt Adapter???

I think this is your real question: Will MOTU build TB bridges that allow 2408, 24I/O, HD192 and the other devices that used PCI/x/e cards to access TB directly? Yes, that was my question. Sorry I didn't communicate that clearly :banghead: I'm just not wanting to spend a complete fortune on a new M...

Re: Native Instruments releases Vintage Compressors with Sof

So I did this lengthy review of the VCs and then when I submit it, MOTUNATION had timed me out so I had to log back in and bam... the whole review was gone! Grr. Sometimes I hate technology. Anyway, the plugs sounded great on their own, but in my quest to achieve old-school, analog nirvana in the di...

Re: MOTU PCI to Thunderbolt Adapter???

To anyone interested, not that this thread has sparked much interest, but I did find this from Sonnet. It's an external Thunderbolt PCI Expansion Chassis. It hasn't been released yet, nor have they given a price, but if MOTU doesn't support their PCI Audio Interfaces or we want to jump to an iMac, t...

Re: MOTU PCI to Thunderbolt Adapter???

Thanks, Mike. Great input. I'm not however looking for a PCIe to TB adapter. I'm looking for Thunderbolt adapter to plug into an iMac that will allow MOTU's PCI audio interfaces to be connected. Something that would essentially take the place of the current PCI card and plug into the TB connection. ...
