Altiverb is a convolution reverb and works in a complete different way than a Lexicon or similar, so i think it can't be compared.
Convolution reverbs create very realistic natural rooms (also artificial ones, depenent on IR) but you may miss edit- features.

I would turn off "Analyze Soundbite as soon as possible" when you hit stop in between, just to make sure no background tasks are running while recording.

I think AUnetreceive won't work with DP.

You can make the mixer appear like a meterbridge: In "view" menu uncheck everything except meters.

Open them in an other editor (Peak, etc.), export them again... may be a workaround.
