I'm experiencing similar symptoms.
Windows 7 64-bit on a Dell 6320 laptop. Install most recent MOTU drivers and things seem to go well. Then I get this same error "An unknown error occurred in the MOTU ASIO driver.#25,error 25.\DriverHoster.cpp 859".
Did you find a solution to this?

Can I use the newer CueMix FX app with old drivers?
For stability, I've found that it's best to stick with older (e.g. 3.6.8.1414) drivers. But there are things in the newer CueMix console (in particular, the ability to name mixes and inputs) that I'd like to have. Does anyone know if I can pull the CueMix app from the newer releases (4.x.x.x) and in...

Re: Changelog for new drivers... Please?
Strongly agree. I presume that MOTU's release process includes such information, so it wouldn't be all that hard for them to create release notes or a change log. On the other hand, they don't publish manuals as PDF files -- only as hard copy for sale. I'm just happy that the Windows driver quality ...

Re: 828 MK II as ADAT In/Out unit
Thanks all! Some very creative solutions here -- expecially you, Pappy. Routing back from DAW! Very clever. But latency on my DAW isn't low enough to really feel comfortable with that. And mono monitoring vs. stereo? Again, digging deep, I like it. I've heard a lot of trash talking about the ADA8000...

Re: 828 MK II as ADAT In/Out unit
OK, so I tried this. Having the two 828s connected by firewire does NOT route the audio from one to the other. You can control the units from the CueMix console on the host computer, but the audio from one 828 does not flow to the the DSP/Mixer in the other 828. After banging on this for a while, an...

Re: 828 MK II as ADAT In/Out unit
Thanks, nice try. But the drum inputs have to make their way to the MK III somehow because they have to be part of the CueMix inputs to feed the individual headphone mixes.

Re: 828 MK II as ADAT In/Out unit
Well, I'll try it, but I don't see how I would get mixes out of the MK III to travel via FireWire into the MK II and then out the Analog Out. Does the equipment work that way? Sounds cool, but I doubt it.

Re: Success: 828 MKIII on Dell Laptop and XP SP2
The D620 does not have a built-in FireWire port. If it did, I wouldn't use it as I'm pretty sure it's not based on the TI chipset. I can't say I'm happy that MOTU advertises a unit that works with FireWire, then after you get it you find out that it only works with SOME FireWire adaptors. But I've d...

Re: Yet another Pops'n'clicks thread
XP SP2 does pose a problem for FireWire, and the solution is to do the SP2 install, and then replace the FireWire/1394 drivers with older SP1 version drivers. There are many posts on how to do this. Check out the one on this board titled "Intel, Windows, & DAW." In particular, you're r...

Re: 828 MK II as ADAT In/Out unit
Good question, glad you asked. A bit more detail... I'm using all these INs and OUTs because I'm heavily using the internal DSP/CueMix capabilities. The band is all 'electronic'. Two guitars and a bass through "PODs" or equivalent, drummer through a Roland electronic drum 'kit', etc. All t...

828 MK II as ADAT In/Out unit
I have posted this question to MOTU support, but they don't seem to understand my question. I'll save my MOTU support bashing for another day, but would appreciate some insight from my fellow MOTU users. Here's the question: I purchased an 828 MK III (love it!) and want to use my old 828 MK II as A/...

Re: Success: 828 MKIII on Dell Laptop and XP SP2
Sorry for delay. A few days off the grid. Ahhh... - did you go through the whole process described by RME, including the registry hack...? I did not do the registry hack. Only the rolling back of the drivers to SP1. My firewire card doesn't support 800, so it didn't seem to be an issue. - what laten...

Success: 828 MKIII on Dell Laptop and XP SP2
I've had an MKII for many years, and recently upgraded to an MKIII. I was dreading upgrading the driver and going through all the hassle of making my system stable, having read threads here for so long. I thought it would be nice to post a good story -- I moved up to MK III and am having no problems...
