I try vista with a multiface RME and work sometime with 1024 buffer... and no plugins.
With XP is a super computer, I can work with 64 buffer.

Is not possible use vista for audio now.

I use a BCF and a axiom every with usb and no problem.
In your seq you can choose the right in.
I use in multirecord for control different virtual instrument with two keyboards, work fine.

You can use aggregate devices in core audio, generally this work, i taste with a 828 * mbox2 and work fine.
Obviously don't work with pro tools.

I use a old 828 (first serie) in my live concert with virtual instuments and I record 4 traks with mic.
Never problem, I start with titanium 500 and now I use macbookpro, between I used also a pc acer, never crash in concert!

You must open in standalone mode or in a host.
I don't remember the name but there is a simple host, like a rack of instruments.

In this way if you have a macintel you can use old plugs.

I have 828, 828mkII, 896hd and never happen with win or mac, allway good.

I have a 828 and a 896HD and I don't listen audible difference.
I thing the quality of 828 very good.

I have octopre and is good, I use with ADAT pipe in motu 828.
I don't know the other interface.

I have both and for me the sound is very similar.
The difference is in cue mix but when you are outside for record I prefere to have 5 real pot...
I use the old with pre focusrite with adat in and in this way is same.
If you use virtual instrument with the new you have a little increase in polifony.

I have 828, 828MKII, 896HD and I use in studio with many computer, Mac and PC, laptop and desktop and I don't have problem. Maybe your PC have something wrong. The difference with Mac is in the cure, forgrt to connect with internet if you wont a stable PC. But if you take cure and you don't install ...

I have both and I thing no difference in sound.
But I have in two different location so I don't make a direct compare.
When I record with the old one and I listen with new I don't feel bad.
Also pre is good.

I like many the old 828.

I have also the 896HD so I new well the quality.

presonus firepod want performer 4,5,2, you can read this in the presonus site.
I have a firebox and a 828, the quality of motu is best, but sometime i need a simple setup for liveconcerts and firebox have a good quality.

I have the same problem with a titanium 500, with the motu 828 peformer go well.
presonus work with cubase LE maybe driver are not well write.
Whith a pentium 4 and cubase work very well.
