You should be fine. I've recorded at least 12 tracks onto a firewire hard drive chained through an 896 and a Traveller.

I installed DP 4.5 fine on my Intel mac. Is there a chance you have something running that is preventing the CD from mounting? For example, I have issues mounting CD's sometimes when Parallels is running...

DP 3.11 will do everything you just mentioned no problemo. Most of the new features that I use from versions 4-5 just make things quicker and simpler. They don't really allow you to do things you couldn't do before. For example: Freeze tracks allows you to bounce a track with its plugins to disk and...

I missed your last post. DP 3.11 on OS 9 is probably a good fit for this machine in its current configuration. You'll be missing a lot of features from 4 and 5 but DP 3.11 will run pretty well and you still have a very full featured piece of software.

I ran a G3 300 that was upgraded to be a G4 533 for a long time. I went from Audio Desk to DP 3 to DP 4.1 on that machine. I don't know if you'll be able to run DP 5 but 4 should work. You'll probably be able to handle plenty of audio tracks but you won't be able to run many plugins or VI's. You'll ...

I wonder how the TC Powercore handles multiple plugs on the same channel. I wonder it it's smart enough to transmit the audio once over the firewire to the unit, process multiple effects, and the route it back once or if it's going to send it back and forth multiple times. Let's assume the worst, th...

I have a rev A. MacBook and it has been stellar. I was unlucky enough to get one of the bad batteries but I stopped by the Apple store and they exchanged it free of charge. I haven't had the whine many people compained about. It does get a tad bit warm but not unbearably so. I've had it on my lap mo...

Most of the tech media covering this development at IBM didn't quite get things right:

Still cool tech but no 500Ghz processors are on the way any time soon....

Is it possible Logic is converting it on the fly to 44.1 because your output is 44.1? I think some software like CuBase and CoolEdit have a quick and nasty algorithm that they use to convert sample rates in real time. Maybe Logic does the same thing? Also, does the pitch sound correct? It could just...

I've personally managed to record 16 simulaneous tracks at 96k/24bit to a firewire drive on the same bus as the interfaces with no problems. My CPU was barely being used at all. I have a friend who borrowed my interface to see how many tracks he could get at 192k. He managed to record 21 simulaneous...

Presets should be viewable across projects but in a pinch, if you can't get it to work, you can drag the plugin to a clipping window.

A/D Converters

So, here's the scoop... I've been using an 896HD since its release and occasionally augmenting it with a friend's traveller when needing more simultaneous inputs. I pretty much never record a full band at 192k because during mixing it eats up my UAD-1 resources and CPU capacity too fast once I start...
