Re: MacBook Pro (2017) AVB support?
For AVB on MacBook Pro only the 10Gb interfaces are genuine Thunderbolt 3 to Ethernet. All the USB-C to 1Gb Ethernet adapters or Ethernet ports on Thunderbolt 3 hubs show up as USB Ethernet and will not support AVB. The best and cheapest option is the Sonnet which uses the same exact 10Gb ethernet c...

Funny thing..elements about this thread (Pro Tools HD versus native apps) reminds me A LOT about the discussions on post-editing forums where they discuss Apple FCP versus Avid Adrenaline, or Autodesk Flint/Flame/Inferno versus Adobe After Effects or Combustion. It usually comes down to a couple thi...

Floating Plugin Windows
Is there a preference setting that forces plugin windows to stay on top when open? What I mean is, I double click an Insert plugin I have already inserted into a track and the plugin window pops up. If I click anywhere else in DP I lose the visibility of the plugin window because it's now behind DP ...

Interesting, no one has mentioned Ableton Live. Some days I'll work only in DP, other days only in Live, and other days I'll rewire Live to DP. With Live 6 you can rewire it to DP and still use Live's built in virtual instruments (Impulse, Simpler, Sampler, Operator, Instrument Racks). I write elect...

Good control surface for plugins?
It's driving me nuts to use the mouse for software instruments. The simpleton approach to some of DP's own instruments leads me to believe a control surface would be a great benefit. Plus, having some real sliders would be nice! What options do I have for a control surface? I'm guessing Mackie Contr...

CPU Meter not making sense
DP 5.1 G5 Quad, 10.4.8, 2.5GB Ram MOTU Traveler, 128 Buffer I've got a project that uses various virtual instruments like Atmosphere, Ethno, RMX, Proton, and some effects plugins. When my machine is idle I'm hovering about 98% CPU utilization in DP according to the Audio Performance window. Activity...

Hello motumacman !!!! I need your help to get my keystation pro 88 to start and stop my DP !!!! Could you tell me more about how you do it ? Aramis ...... You need to assign the transport keys to MIDI Notes using the free Enigma Editor from M-Audio. Use high octave notes like C7, D7, etc.. Then you...

I have one now, but have not used it in DP yet. Mainly because the driver is not fixed. It uses up WAY TOO MUCH cpu power at the moment. Until that is fixed, I don't see the point in trying to use it. Are you saying the actual Kore plugin uses up too much CPU (ie. with no sounds loaded, just the Ko...

Just adding my two cents worth.. Although discontinued, I still use the plugins included with Spark and also the TC Native Bundle. I absolutely love those plugins. I'm sure I'd get along even better with Powercore or perhaps some TC hardware, but the TC Native has hit the sweet-spot for me. Native R...

MSI and Kontakt
When I purchased MSI I was a bit surprised at the degradation of quality in the violins and violas (among other instruments) as compared to the mp3 demos on the MOTU web site. If I do some heavy tweaking with EQ, filters, and reverb, I can get them to sound better but it's quite a bit of work. More ...

Mach 5, Ethno, and Symphonic Instrument are all developed by Universal Sound Bank, not MOTU. USB are discontinuing Ultra Focus, Charlie, and X-Treme FX and coming out with Plugsound Pro in June. Plugsound Pro will have a new version of the UVI engine which will also be used in Mach 5 v2. It made mor...

Re: I'll try that
Though it pains me to control the trasnport via note messages that I may someday desire to record into a track, I'll give it a try and stick to an extreme end of the musical range. BTW, this was the official procedure I was told to use from MOTU. I banged my head against the wall for 3 weeks trying...
