Thanks for the replies - I guess the idea is still brewing. As far as going from PC to Mac, I'm more interested in the DP series of software than a mac. I've spent some time with Mac and just can't grasp them!

I'm very open to ideas

Thanks again

PCI and Firewire Patchbays

Hey All Has anyone ever used a firewire patchbay in between a pc, mac and a motu product like the 2408? I use a 2408MKII with a pc but I'd like to learn Mac and use DP3 and I'm wondering if I can use a firewire patchbay to make switching easier. I realize that the pci series uses a proprietary type ...

Wave File Size

I have an easy question (for others, not for me else I wouldn't have the question!) If a wave file is appx 10M per minute of song, then 16 tracks would be 160 meg per minute. So if I record 16 tracks of a two hour live show, that would be 19200 meg which translates to 192 Gig? Am I thinking right or...

I too, seem to have the same problem as you. One answer I got was that the old 896 does not support a software cuemix but does support a hardware one? I'm still confused. Then I thought I could use the 8 outputs and send then to a mixer so that I could monitor live input that way - I still couldn't ...

Re: Instability of firewire drivers under XP ?

Hi again Baptiste I apologize for not replying your question, I didn't scroll down far enough on my screen to see that anybody replied! Sorry. I'm using Adobe Audition 1.5, XP w/SP2 installed, and trying to run an origianl 896. What I have found out is that the 896 does not support Cuemix therefore ...

Thanks - that would answer it - it's the original 896. It does have Cuemix, a hardware type, but you can only monitor 1 input or stereo pair at a time. I would assume that I can use the 8 outs and send then to a monitor desk and work that way. Any thoughts?

Re: Instability of firewire drivers under XP ?

Hi Baptiste You say that when you call up Cuemix, you got an error? And uninstalling XP SP2 helped you out? Now when you call up Cuemix, do you actually see the little mixer and are you able to monitor all of your inputs. I have an 896 and would like to be able to monitor all 8 inputs while recordin...

Motu 896 and Cuemix monitoring

Hey all happy new year! I've searched the forum and can't seem to find my answer although I know it's in here! I've just purchased an 896, running it through a pentium 4 using adobe audition 1.5. I've installed the latest drivers and all seems well & good until I want to monitor more than 2 chan...
