"load" is the way to go. then make sure your tracks are aligned the same and cut and paste into one chunk

As far as RTAS and TDM on the same track, I think you might be able to start TDM and then go RTAS, but not the other way around. I might be wrong about that, but I believe it's pretty limited in that respect.

No one has mentioned RTAS! In DAE mode you can run both TDM and RTAS plugs, and RTAS plugs are technically native-powered plugins. Many third-party MAS plugs are also available RTAS. The MOTU stock plugs are not available RTAS, though.

I've had offset problems with the quicktime export too. I haven't investigated exactly what's going on but got in the habit of creating a separate sequence with no offsets to make everything sync correctly. where did you read that? DAE mode improved significantly with the last two upgrades so that would surprise me a great deal.
