OK - going through all this just reminded me: You DO NOT configure the Akai as a Control Surface in DP if you're using it as a MIDI keyboard. Remove the definition if you have it configured that way. Control Surfaces in DP are for transport and other functions and most do not play through as MIDI K...

Check the setting on the MIDI Input Filter. Menu Setup --> Input Filter. Most boxes should be selected. Sorry, I had a feeling I was forgetting to mention something, but couldn't remember what. I have enabled all the buttons in the Input Filter and View Filter menus as suggested in the FAQ section ...
