I mentioned 32 bit float because that is the engine that DP is based on. An argument can be made that 48 bit fixed point double precision would be better. All I was really suggesting is that the fewer times you modify the data and print to 24 bit the better as each time some rounding errors are like...

Looking at the published specs of the a to d chips you can see that the distortion rises almost one for one for the last highest three db. It is also true that under specific circumstances some of the reconstruction filters required to convert linear PCM into analog can create inter-sample peaks up ...

This has happened to me on and off ever since I purchased my 2408 mk 3. My solution is to shut down the computer and turn off the interface. Then I have to pull the 424 card and reseat it in the pci slot. The computer then recognizes the interface again for a while, days weeks or even several months...

Just a quick question, does the on screen fader in DP reach unity when the Mackie Control fader is pushed to the top? I am using an 01X to emulate the Mackie and have noticed that the DP faders stop at -.1 db. I assume that the Yamaha code is in error in how it counts starting with 0 instead on 1 or...

I might be better off posting to 01X ray, but I would at least like someone with a real Mackie control to confirm that DP faders reach unity when the Mackie control faders are moved all the way to the top.

01X Mackie control surface for DP

I am very happy with the 01X as a control surface for DP. It emulates a Mackie control. One calibration problem is that with the fader all the way up on the 01X DP indicates -.1 db instead of unity. I suspect this is related to the two different ways of counting in digital starting with 0 or 1. I wo...

It all started for me with a PAIA 8700 computer controlled synth in kit form and a sound on sound stereo reel to reel tape recorder. Then Dr. T software on a Commodore SX64. Performer on a Mac plus with a MIDI time piece. Studio Vision on a Mac SE. Pro tools on a Mac 2X DP currently on a dual 1 Gig ...

 I go all the way back to Performer before the digital part. I am sorry that my wording was confusing to some. Thank you Shooshie for your correct translation "I'd be lost if I was not registered." All I was trying to point out is that software is evolutionary in nature. It is of lim...

My experience is that with the current pace of software updates both from MOTU and Apple I haven't had time to discover all the new features and adapt my method of using DP before the next version changes everything. What was gospel is now heresy. For the most part the capabilities and thus the comp...

I am exploring the O1X now that it is under a grand and so far it seems to work great as a controller for DP with Mackie emulation. I do notice that the pan reads 63L to 64R and that the faders read -.1 instead of 0 dbfs when all the way up. So Gear what are the workarounds for calibrating the Macki...
