I have Motu 4 , front two mics are OK but the back side the instrument input signal is too low

This is a really good question. My way is to watch the meters WHEN I RECORD. A red clipping indicator shows that the recording was clipped, and I start over. But I don't know if there's a way to tell if an existing track has clipping in it. It would be very useful! That is very strange how can a DA...

It's an EQ solution, but if a steep lowpass filter doesn't work, my first move'd be FabFilter Pro-Q and see if you can see the offending frequency and remove it.
