Re: Can I go from an 828mkII to an 8M?
May be true, but since you are using the 828 MklI as an expander, it's a set and forget situation. Don't think you would need to run it as an A-D and D-A convertor both at the same time. This scenario would be for additional analog inputs into your existing system, and is quite transparent. Only 2 a...

Re: Can I go from an 828mkII to an 8M?
If you haven't done this already, it's actually pretty simple if you follow the routing in CharlZS link. I happened to have done this today as my old 8Pre just suddenly quit and I had an 828 MkII Firewire interface sitting around from a previous installation to replace it. You really only need to ru...

Re: MOTU M6
Not M6 related, but just closing out what I decided to do. I ended up buying a used 828 MkIII Hybrid. It has FIrewire and USB, plus CueMix FX. Another advantage for me was that it was basically a direct replacement for the 828 MkII, so I didn't have to change much wiring. Hopefully it will be suppor...

Re: MOTU M6
Thanks for your reply, Mike. So are you saying that with the M6 I could use DP/Logic/Pro Tools in low-latency monitor mode and achieve nearly the same latency as CueMix FX for a live stream feed? What about the Ultralite AVB? It has the inputs I'd most likely need, but I'm guessing I would need to h...

Re: MOTU M6
Thanks Bayswater, that's what I suspected. I used to have a Traveler (1st generation) that did what I wanted except for Cuemix FX. I suppose I could get a MkIII Traveler that has USB, but I hate to spend more money on legacy hardware that may not be supported by a newer operating system in the not t...

Re: MOTU M6
Hello all, I haven't been here in a while, but still a MOTU user. I found out yesterday that one of my interfaces (828 MkII Firewire) is not recognized by Zoom for streaming. Apparently Zoom requires a USB interface. Probably should have checked this out a long time ago, but haven't been using it re...

Re: New, Larger HD Time -- USB 3 or FireWire 800??
The correct answer is Thunderbolt, but those USB 3 drives are so cheap it's hard to resist. I've used USB 3 drives for audio quite a bit now without issues. FW 800 is obsolete, so don't throw any more money into that.

Re: LCR and 5.0
LCR=left, center right in film speak... This is a problem with stems in DP. You often have stems that are different formats than a printmaster, and for good reason. Why waste tracks and disk space with 5.1 background or dialog tracks just to be able to mix them into a 5.1 printmaster? There needs to...

Re: DP8 crashing with mojave
Yup, Mojave breaks DP8. Hope you did a time machine backup before upgrading. I took the opportunity to upgrade to a larger SSD in my Mac Mini. Time machine got me back in the game.

Re: How is Mojave working for you?
Hello all, been a while since I've posted here, as I have been gravitating to other DAW software at wife's request (although she had been a long-time DP user, she just wasn't happy with the lack of integrated sounds in DP and never got along with Mach 5.) So, I succumbed to the nagging of Apple and ...

Re: MOTU 896 Firewire
Just happened on this page, thought I'd respond if you haven't already figured it out. 896 mk3 Hybrid is a fine unit. If it is working correctly, it should do fine for you. Sounds like you are set to some external clock source. Your interface should be on internal sync if you are just hooked up to t...

Re: MOTU 828 Mkii Firewire and Mac High Sierra
Just to close out the topic, I got it to work. Not really sure why, but here's what I did. Since the prior El Capitan system was working fine (until the hard drive crashed,) I went to an earlier fresh install El Capitan boot disk, loaded the drivers (same as current according to MOTU) and checked th...

Re: MOTU 828 Mkii Firewire and Mac High Sierra
Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. The iMac has Firewire 800 and USB2, no Thunderbolt. I currently have a FW 800 drive hooked up between the Mac and the interface, which was working perfectly before the upgrade. I still have an El Capitan boot drive, so I will test that to see if it's a hardware or soft...

MOTU 828 Mkii Firewire and Mac High Sierra
Did a search, but didn't find the answer... I upgraded the hard drive on my wife's late 2009 imac 27" this week, and am getting things sorted out. I did a clean install of Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.1 (I think). Downloaded the latest MOTU Audio and MIDI drivers, and checked the security settings ...
