Re: Looking for an easy way to blow away all my audio.....
Page 50 in the DP8 manual BTW, however not sure this gets me there. Compaction looks like it just kills unused audio(old takes) and remove dead air within audio files. I want to delete even the currently used audio. I'll just have to try it and see but not sure compaction will do that.

Re: Looking for an easy way to blow away all my audio.....
Thanks, I'll go back and look in the DP7 manual. I didn't say DP8 but the question was related to DP8 software and manual. Hopefully the information applies to DP8 as well.

Looking for an easy way to blow away all my audio.....
I didn't find this in a search and could have missed it in the manual, but I'd like to blow away all the audio files in a project but keep the project intact. Just like when I created it before I recorded any audio. I didn't want to just start trashing audio files because that might corrupt pointers...

Re: What interface will work?
Well I think I have a solution to my interface problem. A little different direction that I had intended on taking. I'm going with a Lynx AES16-SRC card. The Hilo has AES/EBU, my K2600 has AES/EBU and my Tascam mixer has AES/EBU. $500 for the card along with a Decent PC with some extra DAW software ...

Re: What interface will work?
F/W to S/PDIF That works for 2 channels. ADAT optical gives you banks of 8. Yeah but there is this new S/MUX stuff that my converter does over an ADAT link. "Eight channels at 96 kHz and four channels at 192 kHz are available using S/MUX technology. " Of course an older coverter box proba...

Re: What interface will work?
You know I was thinking that probably what I really need is a F/W to S/PDIF converter, if there is such a thing. I don't need audio at all. I haven't heard of such a device but wouldn't be surprised if they did exist. If anybody know of such a device chime in. I appreciate Frodo's suggestions but in...

Re: What interface will work?
Thanks for the input IMPORTANT! With a G5, take note of which manufacturers still offer drivers for 10.5x and earlier, and whether or not those drivers will work with the newer gear. Exactly the reason I said FW instead of USB. Plug and play USB seems to be limited to 10.6.2 and later. Also the reas...

What interface will work?
Looking for an interface that has digital ins/outs @ 192KHz and a FW interface. Don't care about analog in/outs won't be using them. Don't know what's been made over the years but old doesn't bother me. Probably better because I will be using this on a G5 box and the older ones are more likely to be...

Re: Not varispeed again but half speed..
I hear you on the G5 but for me it's a new Mac, new PCI-424, new Altiverb, new VIs and on and on. Little steps for little feet, if it were. I've just spent over 2K on a DAC/ADC so the move from G5 will take a while. When you take into account things like Ribbon Controllers and pedal modifying patche...

Re: Not varispeed again but half speed..
OK well I used to do this on analog tape decks with the synths a long time ago. It's also a known Wendy Carlos trick (and many others). This is only for tracking and would not involve any VIs or plugs. And yes all other tracks would be half speed but when you're using this technique it's all good. W...

Not varispeed again but half speed..
I've looked at the older posts about this and about decided the only way you might get there (without altering your original audio) is to supply DP with an external clock. I design hardware for a living so that's no big deal for me. However I'm looking to make this behave like flipping an analog tap...

Re: DAC shopping.....
Well the Lynx Hilo it is. A 15% discount got me off the fence. If one can get past the price the Hilo does quite a bit of stuff. For tracking in the analog (or S/PDIF) synths I can route the inputs back to the monitor outs as well as driving either USB or digital outs to DP, so I've got very low lat...

Re: DAC shopping.....
I know the OP also wants testimonials on the SOUND of these converters. Thanks for the input. There is a fair amount of side by side talk amoung the Audiophiles, but you would have a much better concept of the operating enviroment. The big reason for me to consider the Hilo is my A/Ds are 96Khz and...

Re: DAC shopping.....
@ the OP I think GearSlutz has a bunch of threads about the Mytek and Lynx Dacs. They do and I've been through them, but you need to understand that I consider my fellow DP users a lot more like family and value the opinions more than just web trolling. These are so called "mastering converter...

DAC shopping.....
I'm shopping for a new DAC for my system. My top two contenders now are the Lynx Hilo and Mytek DSD. They are both considered mastering quality and the Hilo has the added benefit of an 192KHz ADC. Anybody think there is better than this in this price range. I don't really need multichannel converter...
