Okay, I found a workaround that works for me actually.

I just went into Commands, and reassigned the G key to open the MIDI track I wanted (had highlighted). And I deleted out whatever the G key was originally supposed to do. Now it's just one press of a button.

Is there a way to turn this feature off?

Like if you select retrospective audio only, will it stop recording MIDI in the background?

Is there a way to disable MIDI retrospective recording? I find it creepy.

The options seem to be Audio/MIDI Retrospective Recording, Audio Retrospective Recording, or MIDI Retrospective Recording. Do you think if I just set it to audio recording it won't capture my MIDI?
