Re: Dealing with files that go corrupt

+1 on what MLC said. If none of that works, try zip/unzip, like Mike said. Interesting, didn't know that was a trick to use. I've had this screwed up project issue once before about 2 years ago. I stripped EVERYTHING out of the project and was in safe mode, literally a completely blank project. I s...

Re: Dealing with files that go corrupt

One thing to try is start a new project and use the LOAD command to import data from the corrupted file. I tried this, which lead me to believe the issue remains in the Chunk itself. In the event of a completely destroyed file backups are your best and sometimes your only option. Be sure your drive...

Dealing with files that go corrupt

It doesn't happen to me often, and this is probably only the second time (on a second computer) in the 2 years I've been using DP. But I appear to have a Chunk in a project that suddenly decided to throw a tantrum with almost every move I make. i.e. I can no longer open Omnisphere without crashing, ...

Re: Enabling only a few plugins. DP won't load

Sorry for the late response. When I enable all of the MAS plugins, it then allows my 3rd party plugs to work. So I think you're right, there's probably a MAS VST support plug in there that needs to be enabled (didn't check specifically for it yet!).

Re: DP crashing when bouncing movie to disc

Unfortunately, I've never had very good luck with doing movie exports out of DP on Windows. I've experienced crashes, too, and if it did actually export I'd get a messed up video (unwatchable quality). MOTU acknowledged the issue and said they were working on it, but I've since been bouncing out of ...

Re: Temp music is killing me!

My advise would be to NOT let temp music kill you, PB! Instead, embrace it and take it as a challenge where you will learn to identify what is it about the temp music that the director reacts to and loves. Get used to it, and find a way to use it to your favour, unless you want to limit yourself wo...

I like that idea, although it seems tricky to ask for that in a tactful manner. "You don't know what you're doing, would you mind getting another opinion?"

Re: Temp music is killing me!

Stanley Kubrick went with the temp music, witness Alex North's 2001 score: http://www.slashfilm.com/original-2001-score/ Not encouraging, I know, but sometimes a director's initial impulses are the best. I'm assuming North got paid anyway. In my opinion, this is setting the composer up for failure....

Maybe I should find some of those directors...

Temp music is killing me!

I hate having temp music in a film I'm going to score. It's not because it clouds my judgement on the scene but because some directors get too attached to it. Anything I write that sounds similar only in tone and feeling ends up being too different, and anything I write that is very close to it ends...

Re: Max tracks limit ? Null Pointer -108 Error

if MOTU replies or I find a solution/workaround I'll definitely post here. btw, when u test this in a new, empty project, is your max "track limit" also around 790 until this error pops up ? try like 500 MIDI track and 310 AUX tracks... and then remove tracks until the Seq window is acces...

Re: Max tracks limit ? Null Pointer -108 Error

Btw, I'm certain I know what the issue is (other than amateur coding). The Seq editor can't handle querying that many tracks (because the Seq editor shows much more data per track than the TO or MIDI editor). That is, IF the tracks are all displayed and are not hidden or sitting inside folders, for...

Re: Max tracks limit ? Null Pointer -108 Error

Safe Mode, meaning when you go into the list of plugins in Preferences, you disable all of them. I'm curious to see if the limit still occurs, but I'm guessing it does given your consistent results on other machines. When I had the issue, I couldn't reproduce it consistently, so I started to believe...

Enabling only a few plugins. DP won't load

I have a project that seems to have some glitchy issues, so I would like to only enable plugins that I plan on using. I Disable All and select just a few: VEP, Kontakt, Omnisphere, and a couple others. When I exit out of the Preferences window, the audio system restarts but I get the error that says...

Re: Max tracks limit ? Null Pointer -108 Error

I've gotten this error before with far fewer tracks you're using. I'm curious, do you have plugins loaded or are you running in "Safe Mode"?
