Re: 8pre Fallout 4 noises :(

Sorry Motu, but I've had enough of your crap.

Rewired my studio running through Lexicon Ionix U82S.

8pre Fallout 4 noises :(

After upgrading to win10, my 8pre (firewire) has pretty much been behaving itself.

Until Fallout 4.

It hates fallout 4.

Every 10 minutes or so I get the popping noises, and then the loud white noise :(

Re: 8pre FW and Win10

It does yeah, but I've never had a problem with it not opening unless it has a MAJOR freakout, which it still hasn't done in win10.

Re: 8pre FW and Win10

Just an update on this for anyone that is interested.

I've had a couple of minor pops and crackles from my pre8, but I'm still finding it a hell of a lot more stable than it was prior to upgrading.

I hope this helps anyone out there thinking of upgrading.

8pre FW and Win10

I just wanted to report that after installing windows 10 yesterday, I have had absolutely NO random pops or complete spaz outs from my Motu 8pre firewire.

This thread might be a bit premature, but I figured this would be a question that a lot of people will be asking.

Re: 8pre noise after a while :/

I'm using the onboard firewire, I have 400 and 800. I bought the board because of the TI firewire chip in case i bought any firewire gear, unfortunately motu doesn't apply to my logic though apparently.

Re: 8pre noise after a while :/

I have yeah, pretty much tried everything :/

It does seem to be more stable with a higher buffer though.

When I'm using asio, it's solid, I've never had a problem with it then. I use my computer for other things too though and it's then that I get the problems.

Re: 8pre noise after a while :/

I went through this earlier, a few hours later *touch wood* no annoyances.

Not sure if you're running firewire or not but it's worth a try if you are.

Re: 8pre noise after a while :/

Agreed, the drivers for windows are horrendous at best. I've read all the way through the stickied thread at the start which says 'solved' and the closest I got to a solution was to take my graphics cards out........... erm no?! lol But yeah, I've found the same as you 44khz seems to be slightly mor...

Re: 8pre noise after a while :/

Bump.

I found a couple of threads relating to similar stuff on different Motu units, but still not found a solution. :(

8pre noise after a while :/

I was running an old edirol da2496 for a while, but I no longer have a pci slot to run the compatible card. So I decided top break out my 8pre (firewire) and run that. No problem I thought!!! After about 15-20 mins of misc use, it will start to pop and crackle, panning alternatively. After about 10s...
