Re: MIDI Express XT SysEx corruption :(
Well, the MTP AV I ordered from US arrived today. It's the non-USB version as even USB compatibility with those units seemed to be a minefield. Fingers crossed it does as I need. Being able to use Sysex in my studio is going to be a game changer!

Re: MIDI Express XT SysEx corruption :(
If anyone wants to buy a like-new MIDI Express XT that doesn't work with SysEx from Moog, DSI or Yamaha synths, but mostly works for non-SysEx Data, hit me up. It also doesn't work properly with USB 3 ports, but it does seem to work okay via a USB 2 hub. I'm getting rid of my MOTU hardware due to a ...

Re: Wanting a solid control surface for DP 9.5
It's a bit of a pain, but essentially the issue is that Digital Performer had its own overlay for the original Mackie Control Units, which means that even on the original Mackie Control, the functions printed on the control surface don't match what they do in DP. The Behringer is sending the correct...

Re: Struggling with selections and just plain moving around.
All good suggestions, thanks! I feel part of the issue is the documentation. It's not bad, per we, but it focuses too much on the wrong things. The getting started guide doesn't discuss keyboard (or mouse) shortcuts nearly enough, and I feel they might be critical to getting the most out of DP. I al...

Re: Wanting a solid control surface for DP 9.5
So I'm still having problems getting a good control setup going with Digital Performer. The jog wheel still isn't working properly on DP 10.01 with an MCU I bought. It seems there's no way to configure an external MIDI controller to control the record arm / solo / mute status of tracks. And MOTU's o...

Re: Struggling with selections and just plain moving around.
I'm finding myself in the exact same boat. I just find that the mind-body connection isn't intuitive when it comes to Digital Performer. I'm getting there, but I'm questioning whether it's worth the effort. I just regularly find that clicking on things grabs the wrong item, or doesn't do anything at...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
After a fair amount of stuffing around and deleting my Digital Performer preferences, I'm pleased to say it's running pretty well now! I'm able to achieve usable results with a buffer size of 64 samples, which is great. Hopefully I can maintain this level of performance. The direct hardware monitori...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
I told the doctor that if I tried to record 128 simultaneous tracks at 96 kHz with ProVerbs running live on each track, DP sometimes crashed. The doctor told me to stop trying to do that. Either something is broken or you have reached the limit of what your configuration can do. You can test to fin...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
That would be nice. I feel like OS X used to be a lot leaner, and was optimised for audio and video work.... That has never been true but if you want to go memory lane (did you ever or is this something you read on the internet?) no one is stopping you from picking up a G4 for free—I’ll give you on...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
Yes, I know you can do this sort of stuff. I was really suggesting it would be good if Apple supported alternative configurations with known results -- something between a open ended risk laden configuration, and a busybody system that questions and nags you endlessly for mass use. Not something I ...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
Maybe a "pro" version of OS X, where the user decides what it's doing rather than having it run off deciding what IT wants to do. They do - boot into recovery mode and type "csrutil disable". That will allow you to take back control of what runs on your machine :) I want it to r...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
I've already upgraded the RAM in my iMac and it's currently running 24GB, which should be enough for most tasks, considering I don't use VSTs heavily. Per MOTU, it’s plugin use that tasks RAM. My experience bears this out. As for “most tasks”, you had to disable processes that are known to affect f...

Thanks all for the considered and thoughtful replies. In the end I disabled System Integrity Protection and then used launchctl to disable the photoa...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording
Thank you both! I was actually getting dropouts in audio, so it wasn't just a warning. But looks like it may have been an issue with Apple Photos performing facial recognition in the background, even when the app wasn't running. I disabled System Integrity Protection, and then disabled photoanlysis....
