I really like Smith-Brindle's "Musical Composition" a lot, too. His "Serial Composition" has a lot of useful stuff in it that can be applied to non-serial music. I'm a big fan of Russo's "Composing Music" because of the restrictions. Sometimes I find having a limited n...

Hammered dulcimer). But I've already done the demo with what I found in the World card for the JV 180. Let's see if the client buys it and then I'll see what I do next. Cool. I got away with one in Roland Soundcanvass (ancient now) for years and no-one noticed, including some some cymbalom players.

In the third man the instrument used is a zither, very different instrument and sound to cymbalom. Although santoor, hackbret (used in Bavaria and parts of Germany, mainly) and various hammered dulcimers (Celtic, Indonesian, Chinese etc.) and cymbalom are instruments of the same family, they all sou...

Ivo Papasov said "when we started this band we wanted to play weddings because we got to play 10 or 11 hours at a time." So they seem to improvise these long 10 -15 minutes solos. No wonder they look cool and relaxed! Why write something with a 17 in a denominator? Purpose of time signatur...

I bought a MacBook 2Ghz (white one) and apple dealer installed a 7200rpm, 100 gig drive into it. I think it is a Hitachi. Does not afect the warranty, they said. When you are thinking of buing they are more helpful than they are after you gave them the money. Sad, I know, but that was my experience ...

Re: Do I need "Toast" ??

You can use itunes, I did for a while, but Toast does seem to convert and burn your mix quicker and with fewer mistakes. I got mine included with an external burner - Lacie which was something like 170 Euro. It means also I can run of copies of DVDs etc. from the PB drive into Lacie burner. Saves a ...

Re: How many people just audio record?

very interesting thread. I am on Audio Desk as I have no need for MIDI. Since you all seem to record mostly audio, why not stick with Audio Desk only? Or should I say would I gain anything by getting DP?
thanks in advance
