Re: 4Pre USB w/Win10 - Intermittently stops working requires re-connection
Thanks for replying Mike. The 4Pre does not use bus power, it has an external DC power supply that is required. The laptop does not go to sleep at all. It is set to never power anything down unless the battery is about to die and it's not plugged in. There is no hub involved. The cable doesn't prese...

4Pre USB w/Win10 - Intermittently stops working requires re-connection
Hey All, I've been dealing with this problem for a long time actually... I use the 4Pre exclusively for acoustic measurements on a Windows system and I still like the format and the hardware. About once every 30-60 minutes, it will just stop working with Windows. Either Windows doesn't detect it any...

Win7/64 w/Intel USB 3.0 xHCI driver
Hi, I have a Dell Latitude E6540 laptop (win7/64) and it has 4x SS/USB3 ports. Cuemix does not want to communicate/control my MOTU 4Pre unless I completely disable USB3 in the BIOS. When I do that, all ports are now USB2 only and CueMix works fine. I would LIKE to see if its possible to disable the ...

Re: New Dell M4800 Laptop MOTU 4Pre - HELP
Update:
So, I've left the older XP compatible driver on my new M48000 Win7/64 laptop, with Intel SpeedStep and USB3 disabled, and it appears to be stable enough to work with.
There still have been a couple times something went wrong and had to restart it.

Re: New Dell M4800 Laptop MOTU 4Pre - HELP
From MOTU: "Added by Campbell on 2013/11/05 14:34:21 US/Eastern Hi Jonas, There's no real reason to update your driver if everything is working as expected at this point. USB 3.0 connection issues are less common now than they were 1-2 years ago, but this depends entirely on the manufacturer of...

Re: 4pre on win xp
A little late, but maybe somebody else reading will be interested.
It appears you can still download the XP compatible drivers 4.0.5.5333 from MOTU. I tried it with my 4Pre and it worked on my XP laptop.

Re: New Dell M4800 Laptop MOTU 4Pre - HELP
I did something stupid after it was working... I tried the new drivers again on my WIn7/64 machine. oops. After that, it didn't fully communicate with the 4Pre and Windows couldn't play audio through it. I went back to 4.0.5.5333 and it was still doing the same thing. I unplugged, powered off, resta...

Re: New Dell M4800 Laptop MOTU 4Pre - HELP
Okay, wow. After writing this post, in about 15 minutes, I seem to have fixed it. I went into the bios and disabled Intel Speedstep. I meant to also disable USB3, but I forgot and when I rebooted, it was like magic, it started to work like expected, no warbles, pops, clicks, my measurement software ...

To add, I've ran DPC latency checker and it seems in good standing, everything below the 50% green area.
