Re: Normailze...why not make it easy
Terrence - No, when I said that gain changes introduce noise, I was referring to quantization noise, which is a result of the limited resolution of 24-bit systems. When you digitally cahnge gain its as if you are resampling - fractional values are rounded off and that results in more quantization no...

Re: vari-speed in DP
No Speedster does not work that way :) it works like an old tape based pitch shifter. This is a real oversight on the part of MOTU. There should at least be a destructive way to do it: I want to speed a track up so that I can cut the vocals at the higfher speed so they sound slowed down in the final...

Re: Normailze...why not make it easy
Normalizing DOES decrease the signal to noise ratio. when you change the level in a digital system you DOUBLE the quantization noise. Now if you use Trim and add 10db you are bringing the noise floor up 3db. But when you change your mind and back tghe trimn off 2 db the signal is not degraded furthe...

Re: Performance problems
the longer my project runs the higher the cpu usage goes until it becomes impossible - this even though I am not adding any tracks/plugs! The bar is quite high even when it is not running which would suggest that the dynamic CPU feature is NOT working or at least that it degrades over time or there ...

Re: DP Project Management . . . best way
I don't recommend putting different songs in the same project - I used to have a problem with large project files getting corrupted which, when they hold that much work in them, can be a catastrophe. Keep the songs seperate and pass important mix details - fader channels, presets via a performer cli...
