Re: New SSD....boot drive or VI drive?
Oh forgot you're on an iMac. I don't know how iMac users deal with the fan and drive noise and open mics in the control room. Since I have a MBP it just stick it into an MDF box with acoustic foam that I built for sound isolation. It works well but gets hot in there. I need to upgrade it with some k...

Re: New SSD....boot drive or VI drive?
I decided I wasn't going to replace my 500 GB system drive (minimal ROI) and 500 GB 7200RPM HDD internal audio drive (mainly because I don't want to disassemble the computer again, but it isn't that hard) and my external drives continue to grow and grow.

Re: New SSD....boot drive or VI drive?
No, it will run very hot and the fan will run very loud. It is super annoying. When you put in the bracket for the second drive it covers the slot that was used for optical media but which also provided an orifice for cooling. But it has been reliable for a long time and the performance improvement ...

Re: Fast Volume Automation
Glad I'm not the only one. Like I said I was shocked how much faster and easier this is in Pro Tools. MOTU needs to replicate this capability in DP.

Automation control points - restrict to grid and quantize
Hi. I'm trying to edit volume automation data. I have snap to grid enabled but the automation control points aren't snapping to the grid so unless I meticulous (and slowly) use the pencil tool the changes come in slightly early or late. I also tried quantizing volume automation with no success. Does...

Re: Fast Volume Automation
Thanks mesayre! Pencil with curve shape "flat", reshape enabled and behavior "set" is much faster than my previous work flow so thanks for that. I still think the ease and speed of changing bite volume and track volume is much better in Pro Tools. I'll ask MOTU if they can add so...

Re: Yet another LA-2A (and LA-3) emulation, from new vendor
We should set up a "Best emulation of" thread. I have several LA-2As but basically only use UA.

Re: Sharing session files between DP and Pro Tools
Moving from DP to PT, PT to DP or bi-directional? Export each take as its own track and import take tracks into Pro Tools as Playlists. Opps, didn't see your qualification there. I don't know of another way. I haven't had success with OMF but it is supposed to work. I don't know the features/limitat...

Fast Volume Automation
I'm a DP man all the way (since '99). But I do use other DAWs for collaboration. I have recently been learning Pro Tools and I'm amazed how fast you can do volume automation. Select the volume layer, drag L-R to make track selection, position curser for trim tool and drag up-down to change volume, a...

Re: Mac OS Sierra Who's Brave?
I have been on 10.10.5 for a while on my early 2011 MBP. I thought that was as far as I would go. But I wanted to give DP9.12 a go and wasn't thrilled with results. Also installed Pro Tools 12.6 for a collaboration project so thought I'd upgrade to El Capitan. Well because I didn't envision upgradin...

UAD v9.0 - Any feedback?
UAD v9.0 is released with Sierra support and three new plug-ins API 2500 Bus Compressor, Chandler Limited Zener Limiter and A/DA STD-1 Stereo Tapped Delay. Some people complained install hosed their system. What is the feedback on stability? New plug-ins?
