From my limited time with Pro C, it slays and lays to waste the ren comp. That was a good comp for a long time (ren comp), but I can't see using it again after getting the URS Strip Pro. However, if I owned Pro C I would definitely use it.

For example, you have a stereo mix, and on one side, there is a loud tom hit. With dual-mono, the tom hit would be softened to the degree that the compressor is set, as opposed to that tom hit yanking down the entire mix. On the other hand, with dual mono the stereo imaging is compromised. For inst...

If you are working on audio mixed as a stereo file, Audiofinder (from icedaudio.com) can export it as : - a stereo file with one channel (by choice) on both sides - a mono channel of one side This in many audio formats, including sd2, aiff, wav and mp3 Simple and quick as breath. Thanks, but not wh...

Why no dual mono?

I recently (past few months) realised the greatness of dual mono with comps and limiters, and how it really retains the image better (with light compression of course). Am I missing something?

Have to add that I have been spending a few days just opening mixes that I wasn't happy with (all of them) and have been replacing every eq/comp with the urs ones on the same settings. Plugs that I am replacing: waves, sonalksis, tritone digital, uad. I am pretty shocked at how much better things ar...

Tried it out at my friends studio this past weekend, not worth it at that price. The Waves SSL plugs have more bang for the buck IMHO.If it makes someone happy and they get better mixes then it has served it purpose. I agree. Except the urs plug has better ssl emu eqs, and a much better (deeper, not...

Masterworks: unfortunately not really. Not horrible, but not great. I like the Sonalksis eq plug ok, and all the tritone digital eq plugs are excellent. Also, the UAD neve plugs are great.

Re: FF800 and DP, calling all users

Anyway, I want to see a show of hands from folks who have a FF800 and hear what you think of the drivers for both PPC and Intel, as well as stability and RME's mic preamp quality (very curious). Thanks! Jeff I had some problems with stability with my 2 firefaces. It would happen on dense mixes, I w...

A: Didn't work properly,

and B: made my dual G5 cpu bounce up to 100%.

The vsts through the wrapper work way better, though are visually buggy.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, the mda vst one is working great. Don't even THINK of trying to use the au versions, one instance will send your cpu off the handle.

I'm calibrating my Portico compessor to get the levels to match and the unlinked compression to be the same.

Why Is ADC not working with bussing?

Ok. So I've had a problem for a while with phase issues when trying to parallel process drums out of the box (comp through Dangerous 2 bus/ssl, and send a dry signal to another bus). It always phased so bad, it was impossible. I never mix ITB, and Paul at lynx told me it might be a problem with thei...

A note about tritone digital plugs and DP 5.11

I was having problems with the newest versions, until I checked the "always run in realtime" option in the plugin pulldown windows (just the TTD ones). Now they run without flaw. Just a note, so peeps don't pull their hairs out like I was mine.

Hate to say it, but its hard to beat the Waves rennaisance maxx bundle. Because the auto tune is nice (faster for clients than the DP one), IR 1 l is a great reverb, and the comp is great. The eq.....well its not great, but 4-500$ for those plugs is pretty good. For a great eq, check out tritonedigi...
