Re: Mackie Onyx 'i' Mixers
I used to have to original 1640 Onyx, not the "I". At the time, I thought it was pretty good. I traded up to the Presonus StudioLive, and never looked back. Feature-wise, as well as build-quality, it makes the Onyx look like a Neanderthal cave painting. I'll leave it at that.

Re: PT9 and MOTU hardware
Wonder how MOTU feels about PT9? I gotta believe that it will be beneficial to MOTU. I own a 003r, 828mkII, 828mk3 and an MBox 2. The MOTU stuff blows the Digi/Avid stuff away. I probably know 5 or 6 folks who've been wanting to get out of Avid hardware for some time, but couldn't give up PT. Now, ...

PT9 and MOTU hardware
I just got PT9, and wanted to tell all of you that it does indeed work with Motu hardware. Or at least my 828mk3. No issues that I can see. Yahoo!

Re: New no Brainer- anyone using Toontrack Drum Tracker
I use it, and it works great. I use it routinely to replace badly tracked drums. Thumbs up!

Re: Western Digital Heads Up-"Caviar Green"
Hi Buzz- fwiw I have heard green drives should be avoided for audio/video work, the way they conserve power seems to be counter productive for our particular needs. I have been having good results w/ enterprise class 7200 rpm drives. KG Not just that, but the Green drives have a bad rep for reliabil...

Re: DP 7.1 is Available
Auto save! As the kids say, OMG. And it is a smart auto save too. I love the implementation. You can determine how long between saves. The default of 2 minutes seems good, and it does not save when the project is playing, and the save time is ultra quick. Quicker than what I have been used to. ... ...

Re: DP 7 with Mackie Onyxi Firewire
I had the previous Onyx board, and it worked fine with DP, although you will not get the near-zero-latency that you would get with current motu interfaces. All that said, I sold it and bought the Presonus StudioLive, and feel that board it lightyears beyond the Mackie. As a board. As a solution for ...

Re: Saving a DP session for Pro Tools
Hey. What is the best way to save a DP session for Pro Tools? I recently saved a session as an OMF file and clicked the button to save all audio files. There are so many options in the window when you click Save as OMF and I'm not sure what the proper way to save my session would be. Thanks. I do t...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
But the train is leaving the station, and you're not on it. Okay, shoot me now. :-) Right, but that train leaves several times a day, and I'm not in a hurry. Besides... every subsequent train is faster and better designed and more capable. Right you are. All I am saying is that the coders are at a ...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
DP 5.13 will run fine on a thee year old machine, right? If you are not willing, or able to upgrade your systems, at some point you and your system will no longer be supported. To do otherwise is to cripple everyone else. Not fair or realistic. . Actually DP 5.13 DAE was severely limited with no im...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
The PTLE8 update was a paid update, as was DP7. But this is all semantics here. DP7 is really DP6.1, but they charged for it because it was over a year later, and they wanted their subscription fee, just like every other update business model-based company does. PTLE 8.03 has also come out a year l...

Re: Poll over at Gearsl*ts...
I'm trying to ignore this poll so that I'm not tempted to register a membership at GS. I intend to keep that forum at a distance, by sticking to read-only mode. Due to how much DP gets bashed over there, I doubt I could maintain restraint if I was suddenly able to actually post there. I have neithe...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
As for The PPC aspect of it, I can see sooner (rather then later) Motu doing exactly the same thing with DP. Digidesign as a company?..yeah..no surprise there.. And MOTU would be correct in doing so. But I think MOTU has the wherewithal not to get everyone to pony up for an upgrade and then pull su...

Re: for DP/PTools users, PTools for Snow Leopard (finally)
The above posts copied from the Digi site pretty much lay it out: - Apple has long abandoned PPC - currently shipping product has to work on current machines and OS - the future is new users buying new machines and OS, as well as older users upgrading to new machines and OS - resources are (and have...
