Re: please need some help

We need to know were your signal is clipping. If it's clipping at the input then it has nothing to do with the plugin. If that is the case, you are right, lowering the mic input gain has no effect on the Instrument inputs. If you are clipping the Instrument inputs there are a few things that you can...

Re: Ultralite Main Vol knob/encoder not working

FWIW, my "fixes" didn't last long so my Main Vol knob is toast. Fortunately I found that you can assign the knob to other outputs so I just assigned it to the spdif out which I don't use. I don't really need the hardware knob for what I do so I will just use the Logic levels to control the...

Re: iMac Recall

This might be a good time to consider whether you still need the SL partition at all. When I switched to Mac I added a Vista (!!!!!!!) partition and, even with access through Fusion, I rarely used it so it was gone pretty quickly. Also, I have done the last 3 OSX updates on day one and the only loss...

Re: 1 x 27" monitor or 2 x 24" ?

It probably comes down to your own workflow. If you like to have a bunch of plugin windows open at the same time then two monitors is probably the way to go. A single larger monitor doesn't really help dealing with multiple UIs like dual monitors. At work a lot of people use dual monitor setups for ...

Ultralite Main Vol knob/encoder not working

I actually don't use the physical encoder a lot but I tried last night and turning it clockwise the gain indicator kept going down until it was off and I couldn't get it to move after that. I eventually mostly fixed the issue sort of--I was able to get the volume up but I don't have a lot of confide...

Re: clipping

If the 828 is like the Ultralite in that the mic Pads don't apply to the instrument/line ins, you can use a basic DI box then use the Pad on the mic input that you are using. One thing you said about not using CueMix--once you get your setup the way you need it with CueMix, you don't have to run it ...

Re: [Help me] Can't get sound from the Motu Ultralite MKIII

I believe the mkIII is either firewire or USB so my experience with an mkIII may not help but, at some point my FireWire interface was just not being recognized by, I believe tiger osx. I tried many different things and actually concluded that my FireWire interface was gone. I'm not sure what happen...

Re: Does MOTU gear sound bad?

If you want to read a lot about the specs and internal hardware of different audio interfaces spend some time at www.blacklionaudio.com. They are a modding company that open up popular interfaces and find ways to modify them for even better performance. They actually offer many MODs for Motu gear an...

Re: Is it necessary to use Microbook II with CueMix?

CueMix is just a method to control/set up the interface. If you aren't worried about zero-latency direct monitoring you can just set your CueMix faders to zero which disables direct monitoring and then you don't have to worry about running CueMix again until something changes in your setup or requir...

Re: CUEMIX routing question?

You're right that the only way to use CueMix mixing for software based instruments is to patch physical outputs to physical inputs. Ideally you would have a system that only requires one mixing environment so, if it were me, I would try mixing everything in your DAW instead of mixing with CueMix. If...

Re: Ultralite and Ableton Live - Basic Setup ?s

Hey Pongo, if you want to monitor everything through Live you just need to turn all of your CueMix faders down. These faders only affect the direct monitoring levels so they won't affect levels in Live. Direct monitoring is used if your setup (Live) has too much latency/delay to play effectively. If...
