Re: Best Way To Level Volume on Vocal Track
Automation is your friend. Use a good compressor like UAD LA2A or something that meets your needs and style of music. Then automate the tracks and do your "rides" with a fader or draw the automation. Good mixes take time. Also-don't crush the dynamics out of it.

Re: Can I use 2 G5 Machines as a cluster with DP7?
Here is a very good SOS article on setting up MIDI over LAN: http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar07/articles/dpworkshop_0307.htm#5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I have a G5 dual 2.7 that I use to run LASS. My main machine is a Mac Pro as you can see in my sig. I used to do ...

No, not ADAT. Not 8 channels. It is SP/DIF on Toslink and as mentioned above, "You need a mini to TOSlink adapter". It is 2 channel stereo L&R. It is a Digital format - not analog.

Re: Slave PC for L.A.S.S.
I have a G5 dual 2.7 with 8GB RAM slaved to my quad core Mac Pro over ethernet. I run L.A.S.S and other large sample libraries that way and it all seems to work quite well for me.

Re: Steven Slate Drums EX as AudioMIDI no-brainer deal at $20
Must be kind of random. Yesterday I clicked on the link to their site, did the password thing, was directed to the download page. I had all the files down in under an hour. So far, Superior Drummer sounds better to my ears, I also have the Ocean Way Drums Collection. I'll get into the SS stuff more ...

+1, Yes it does work great. The Jog wheel works if you are clicked into the SE or tracks window. It only works as a locater though, not for scrub audio. Otherwise-works great.

Re: DP7.02-Snow Leopard and Inspector XL
Thanks guys. I went on over to the dark side and converted to the RNDigital versions after EA with the auth on my iLok. I don;t know the versions off hand but I guess I'll hope for the best and report back after I get my Mac Pro Running.
