EZDrummer 2 Kit-Loading in DP 9 Excruciatingly Slow
Loading drum kits in EZDrummer 2 (as an AU plugin) is painfully slow within DP 9 on my system (Mac Pro early 2008, OS X 10.10, 8-core Xeon, 16 GB). In contrast, it is fast as lightning in both standalone EZDrummer mode and as a plugin in Ableton Live ! Anyone else having this issue? I recently purch...

Re: DP9: Is it snappier?
I stand by all the statements I made about the poor performance of DP 9 versus DP 8, with one important caveat: those differences disappear after a variable amount of time (typically 3-5 minutes on my system)! It appears DP 9 engages in an extraordinary amount of internal processing and disk writing...

Re: DP9: Is it snappier?
Unfortunately, your (BaysWater) simplistic, reflexive answer is totally incorrect. NOTHING has gone wrong with my particular setup. You should have read my post more carefully--I A/B'ed DP 8 and DP 9 using the same template/setup. I suspect those with no drastic slowdowns are using relatively simple...

Re: DP9: Is it snappier?
Quite the opposite--DP is now slow as molasses in my hands. Straightforward projects easily run with a 128 buffer in DP 8 can no longer be run with a 512 buffer in DP 9. Constant snaps, crackles and pops as the "Processing" bar redlines consistently (on my 8-core, 16GB RAM Mac Pro). Indeed...

Re: Custom Themes in DP 9
You are correct--indeed, I believe you and I were two of those who reported the technique for DP 7 (while Amplidood took it to a whole new level)--but I wanted to make it clear for new DP 9 users that it can still be easily done. I'm also hoping that MOTU might come across the post and realize that ...

Re: Reverb suggestions
For a number of reasons, algorithmic reverbs are lately gaining in popularity over convolution reverbs. I second Valhalla--one of the best and most flexible algorithmic reverbs going. Absolutely superb! You also can't go wrong with PSP's inexpensive EasyVerb algorithmic reverb.

Re: Customizing DP's Built-In Themes
Thanks, Amplidood--I am a great fan of your work (which clearly goes WAY beyond what I have done here). Here are the links to 3 straightforward customizations of DP 7.2 themes: Yellow: https://img.skitch.com/20110119-8spjy38293fpg4idpy5n36t5pi.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return fa...

Re: Customizing DP's Built-In Themes
Superb points, Shooshie. I didn't realize Andy had compiled a list of XML parameters--you are absolutely correct in that obtaining that list would be a terrific time saver. In last month's issue of Sound On Sound, an article on customizing DP 7.2 referred to editing themes' PNG files, but made no me...

Customizing DP's Built-In Themes
I have been editing the XML Resource file found in each Theme bundle with remarkable (and remarkably easy) results. Using a standard text editor, I am able to change the color of text and background in the various windows (e.g., Tracks, MIDI Note list, Mixer, etc.), as well as the counter's font/col...
