No, I tried that too! Agree about Merge.stubbsonic wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2024 7:54 am Merge is a super important command.
I tried using the view filter but it doesn't work as I'd expect.

Re: Copying only volume data
OK, I've found a workaround. It's clumsy, so I'd still love to hear if there's a proper solution to this, but it's worked for my present purpose. So, in case it's any use to anyone, here it is (using bar numbers in my previous post): 1 Set markers at bars 47, 69 and 145 2 If possible, arrange it so ...

Copying only volume data
A passage in my sequence (bars 47-69) is repeated later on (145-167), and while the notes might vary slightly, I would like to copy the automated volume data from 47-69 to 145-167 without copying the rest. I've looked into automation snapshots, but unless I'm seriously misunderstanding it this doesn...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
Wooo-HOOOO!!! Thanks for following up. Very satisfying. Yes indeed! However, I'd forgotten some aspects when I said rebuilding the V-Rack would be easy. It actually took some time, and lots of screenshots from the original setup, but I got there in the end. (I did also try a separate new project, l...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
And the winner is... stubbsonic. At least, so far. I've made a new project and loaded only the basic sequence with all the MIDI data. I can reconstruct my V-Rack quite simply and easily, but I've started by just loading the Flute VI and have successfully recorded the same phrase (the first thing the...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
I'm not getting into the argument about upgrading, Just the main topic of the thread... I spoke too @£%^ing soon! DP and the Vis are all up to date now, and I thought I'd fixed the problem when I could finally make a new project, record a bit of MIDI, then record that to audio... But I still can’t d...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
Ugh!! I feel for you. I really do. That kind of stuff is stressful. Thanks so much for your sympathy, stubbsonic. Not only is it stressful, it's the most monumental waste of %^&*ing time! Anyway, much to my surprise I got a reply from motu support within about half an hour! It was to the effect...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
OK, back on the case... First a quick try again to see if it's the same and of course it is. So I decided to make a new project with just the Flute VI, record the short phrase to MIDI, then record that to audio. That, at least, was the plan, but... Quit DP and launched again from scratch, then click...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
Shot in the dark - in the SE does it draw the waveform while recording and then when you hit stop it disappears? If so, check the View Filter to make sure Soundbites is checked. No, there's no visual feedback at all. It behaves exactly as if I'd just hit Play and not Record. Thanks for all your sug...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
The OP is recording audio from a VI not an external source. Does that microphone permission thing apply to that? Exactly. I did go into this setting earlier and turned the mic access OFF, which seemed to me to make some sense (except that I couldn't really see why it should make any difference), bu...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
A possible workaround or different approach - record the MIDI on the VI track, then select the instrument track(s) and freeze. Not sure I fully understand that, but it sounds as if it wouldn't fit in with my normal way of working - and in any case, why should I have to change how I've been function...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
You have the microphone enabled, right? Pretty sure MIke is referring to the Mic Setting in macOS, not a different Mic, right Mike? csansom... you have tried rebooting your Mac... ? Which mic setting, where? In the Sound pref. pane? I can choose a different mic there, but I don't see how to choose ...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
This is an obscure one, but I've encountered a bug (or weird glitch) where a bus goes silent-- for totally unknown reasons. You can try assigning the VI out and destination track input both to a different bus number. I know it shouldn't matter, but still try it. Thanks for the suggestion. I changed...

Re: Can't record audio - must be missing something obvious!
Well, Mike, you've got me stumped again! I thought 'Oh yes, of course, Mike must be right, and it'll be Sound Studio'. In case you're not familiar with it, Sound Studio is a very simple and reliable audio app from Felt Tip Software which I tend to leave open for basic editing tasks - or even just li...
