A friend of mine has 2 Sample machines and a DAW mac pro and he gets really good performance from VEP and DP.. one day i'll get another Mac Pro..

Re: CPU Optimization in DP: multiple VEP or VEP Event Input?
Doesn't setting VEP buffer to none cause DP CPU hit to go way up? Yes...yes it does. But i'd rather push the CPU then have the dropped notes.. For my template I have 4 Instances of VEP, and 10-12 Event Inputs for each instance of VEP. I was able to find a balance between instances and Event Inputs ...

Re: CPU Processing Power
How do you add "CPU power" to "Audio processing"? One seems to be a measure of capacity, and one a measure of usage. hmm good point.. I'm not sure of the technical measuring of this, but that's just what I was told by MOTU HQ.. they said it's not only the CPU usage, it's also me...

Re: CPU Processing Power
From what i've been told by MOTU is that the CPU performance meter in DP is the COMBINATION of both CPU power and Audio processing.. So it isn't fair to compare it directly to the Activity Monitor.. but when some people say to ignore it.. well for me, when it spikes, it causes pops and stutters.. so...

Re: CPU Optimization in DP: multiple VEP or VEP Event Input?
Welcome to the crazy world of DP and VE Pro Event Inputs... You'll find many a threads about this issue on this forum and VSL's forum.. You will also find that 1) It varies greatly per individual and 2) there are pro's and con's to each way, and it'll be up to you to see which is better for your per...

Gonna Bump this..
I'm scared to update since i'm neck deep in projects at the moment. But if 8.06 solves this, then I might take the plunge!

Re: Any hopes for DP and VST3??
Right MAS doesn't have the MIDI limitation, But the real problem is that VSL (VE Pro) are NOT going to make a MAS version any time soon. They say it's "Not even near the top of our priority list at the moment. Not enough users request this" a few members of this forum, along with myself, h...

Re: Any hopes for DP and VST3??
...soooo you're saying there's no reason for MOTU to NOT do this right?!? SWEET!
Not sure of the technical complexities that are involved in getting VST3 to work.. but I hope MOTU can figure it out!

Re: VEP5 w/ Event Input = Lots of Stuck & Missing Notes
Also I ranted here about this: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=56856 But I know lots of people spend hours and hours and lots of money, I know I have, trying to solve these problems and I think it is impossible. It's simply the fault of the "work around". My test w...

Re: VEP5 w/ Event Input = Lots of Stuck & Missing Notes
I think though, with DP7 the delay compensation didn't work properly (if at all) As in, things aren't sample accurate if you do tests. So fast rhythmic stuff can get all funky.. This is why I went to DP8..which now has correct delay compensation with VEP.. but then that created the downward spiral t...

Re: SSD for Boot Drive...?
from my experiences the SSD Boot Drive, for me, didn't really make DP run any better or "snappier". It loaded faster, and loaded projects maybe a bit faster. Also you can run other apps in the background better, faster. But I believe if you want a faster session, especially if it's more aud...

Re: Any hopes for DP and VST3??
is there an benefit to VST3 from a user standpoint? what does it add to the feature set? what's the advantage? The only advantage, that I care about, VST3 has over VST2 (which DP DOES support) is that you get past the 16 MIDI channel limitation. VST3 gives you 16 banks of 16 MIDI channels I believe...

Re: Any hopes for DP and VST3??
I didn't mean for my question to be rhetorical.. I was just asking if anyone knew. Then I went on explaining that 'seemingly' using the same Studio setup, just different DAW that supports VST3, it made a world of difference. Bottom line is this would be a HUGE help because it would eliminate the ver...

Any hopes for DP and VST3??
Hello all, Does anyone know if there are plans in the near future for support of VST3? Anyone from DP HQ? The reason for the question is because I love VE Pro and how it revolutionized the flexibility of scoring templates. I don't think I could ever go back to using my 2408's ADAT, piping a small nu...

Re: 8.05 MIDI problem
it's confirmed that there are MIDI issues with VEP Event inputs on 8.05. Happened to me to and I had to roll back to 8.04. They are fixing it for the 8.06 release! if you have to, or can, disabling Automatic Delay Compensation fixes the problem. But that causes chaos if you're doing anything with lo...
