I'm not familiar with sound studio, but in logic if you route the channel you're recording into so the output goes to the main outs, you should hear what you're recording. Check if there's a button on the channel strip for input monitoring.

Try assigning main out as the return channel in the MOTU setup window. Then in Logic, open an audio channel and select return as the input. Let us know if it works.
