Re: 896 mk 3
I've been running live sound and recording gigs using the 896MK3 cuemix fx on a macbook pro, recording into Logic. My experience so far has been positive. The good points are that the sound on stage and in the main PA is very nice, and artists and audiences have all been happy enough to point that o...

Re: Sending single channel output in 896mk3/cuemix
Setting up bus channels with mono outputs is a good solution for recording. For running live sound I just want to stay within CueMix and the hardware's DSP to keep latency issues out of the equation, especially since I'm using the DAW to record the live gig so that would likely increase the latency ...

Re: What color is your studio?
my control room is deep blue, live room is various warm orange and earthy yellow tones, and the edges between them... green
some gentle warm colored spot lighting along the walls too. i think i said warm twice in this post, and so i may as well add cozy ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: Sending single channel output in 896mk3/cuemix
Thank you, Klaus. *sigh* MOTU has had my undying allegiance for years, until now that they've introduced all sorts of unreasonable limitations into their routing possibilities (I know CueMix FX has been around for a few years now but I only made the "upgrade" from MK2 just recently). It ma...

Re: Sending single channel output in 896mk3/cuemix
I guess what you're trying to say, Klaus, is that this question has already been addressed in another thread? Sorry if I unknowingly
but I didn't find it... could you kindly show me where? It would be most helpful.
Thanks.

Sending single channel output in 896mk3/cuemix
I want to use the 896mk3 to run live sound for a small format gig, sending the main outputs to the PA left/right... ok so far nothing tricky... and then I want to send single outputs to stage monitors. I set up a separate mix for each monitor, but the outputs are all stereo pairs. Is there any way t...

Re: MOTU 8pre ADAT to Focusrite Saffire PRO 40
Good idea, NeroMan2. Check those preamps and see how they sound for you. The only reason I said what I said about them is because I actually own a Saffire Pro 24 DSP and a MOTU 896MK3, and have tested them up against each other, and running through each other in several possible configurations. In m...

Re: MOTU 8pre ADAT to Focusrite Saffire PRO 40
@NeroMan2: MOTU's converters (and therefore, sound) are much much better than the Saffire's and so is the driver more stable. So if your present task is input, like for tracking, I would hook the Saffire to the computer via firewire and the 8Pre to the Saffire via ADAT. That way you're using MOTU's ...

Re: What do you think of the Focusrite Saffire PRO 14?
I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP. I bought it because I needed portability, I couldn't yet afford a MOTU Ultralite, and Focusrite are renowned for their killer preamps so they must make good interfaces too, right? WRONG. Their drivers are so unstable, they drop out at the drop of a hat. The pre...

Re: help needed
I'm not familiar with sound studio, but in logic if you route the channel you're recording into so the output goes to the main outs, you should hear what you're recording. Check if there's a button on the channel strip for input monitoring.

Re: help needed
Try assigning main out as the return channel in the MOTU setup window. Then in Logic, open an audio channel and select return as the input. Let us know if it works. Alternatively, there is soundflower, which is freely downloadable out there in internetland. It lets you route audio internally and vir...

Re: MOTU 896 MK3 with PT9 at 96/24 gives me the jitters
If you're sending to your JBLs via S/PDIF, then the audio stays in the digital domain all the way to your monitors. I don't know much about digital monitors, so I may be off the mark here but... does the signal get converted there before they activate the drivers to move the air? I'm wondering wheth...

Re: 896MK3 CueMix monitoring anomaly
Thanks for the suggestions Klaus. But still, putting the monitors through an attenuator doesn't give me control over their volume independent of the monitor mix. And piping the headphones through an aux in my DAW doesn't solve the issue for standalone. It seems like there is something very basic tha...

896MK3 CueMix monitoring anomaly
1. Headphone output is very weak, and any assignment other than mirroring the main outputs sends nothing to the headphones. I want independent volume control of monitors and headphones. 2. The main volume knob, or monitor volume in the cuemix console, controls the volume of the Main Outs only as lon...
