MOTU896mk3 USB mode Gapping audio with REW 5
I've been working on this problem all week: My old MOTU 896 died last month and I was told it is no longer serviced. I was using it with a Sony GRX560 for about 7 years and recorded countless concerts with never a dropped sample. Bought a new MOTU 896mk3 Hybrid (FW and USB). First of all, the FW por...

896mk3H, New Laptop, Firewire No See MOTU Device
History Background of problem: Last month, my 896 Original failed (no sign of life) and MOTU won't repair these anymore. I was using it with a Sony GRX560 laptop for the past 7 years to record numerous concerts and events, with never a problem of even the slightest nature. Due to the no repair situa...

Re: 896mk3 Driver Install Failure
I'm connecting via Firewire, not USB. The USB works, but it's too slow (v1.1, not 2.0). It's the FW that won't detect. The ONLY other device this laptop has EVER connected to was my 896 Original, which died around Thanksgiving this year, leaving me with no way to record concerts. So I bought the 896...

Re: 896mk3 Driver Install Failure
Updated the Sony GRX560 to Win XP SP3 just now, and did another clean install of the drivers. This went as usual, no errors. However, once again, when I power on the MOTU, no hardware is detected.

Re: 896mk3 Driver Install Failure
A look in the system32\drivers folder for both systems reveals part of the problem: The desktop system that works and installed okay with the drivers has tmcomm.sys motubus.sys mfwamidi.sys motufwa.sys mfwawave.sys The laptop only has two of the above files in its drivers folder. For some reason, th...

Re: 896mk3 Driver Install Failure
The initial problem was found to be need for Win SP2 update. I did that and the drivers install fine (at least the disc installation part). However, when I plug in the 896mk3H and power on, hardware detected MOTU Audio and nothing else. CUE Mix can't find the hardware. Neither can MOTU Audio Console...

896mk3 Driver Install Failure
I'm replacing a dead 896 Original that I always used with my Sony GRX650 laptop for the last 7 years to record concerts and other multi-channel events with a new 896mk3H. I've uninstalled the original drivers, rebooted and started the installation of the new drivers that came with the 896mk3H. I am ...

Re: 896mk3 Hybrid stopped talking to iMac!
That is scary news. Sometimes I don't always have control when the union guys back stage start unplugging my stuff after a concert. I never had any trouble with my 896 Original, but now that I have the mk3H, I am concerned about this happening because some stage hand started unplugging stuff while i...

Re: Motu 896mk3 (No-hybrid) High noise on Analog Outputs
Does it sound like a high frequency buzzing sound? I found this artifact when CUEMix was routing an analog input to the Main Out. Turning off this mixing feature made the outputs dead quiet. Even quieter than my 896 Original used to be. The other thing is that unbalanced inputs seem to pick up switc...

Re: Looking for a Replacement for my 896 Original
I guess I'm living in a different world, with my 30+ year old (and still working perfectly) hi-fi gear, which includes preamps, equalizers made in the 1970s and power amps made in the 1980s. I have older tube gear, too, which I have been able to maintain nicely for half a century. I'm perturbed when...

Re: high pitch frequency on motu 896mk3 hybrid inputs
I just took delivery of a 896mk3 Hybrid this week and I'm noticing noise on the inputs, though it's not a steady tone. It sounds like a buzzing sound with high frequency components to it (commutator noise), when something is plugged into the TRS input. I first noticed this noise on the output bus wh...

Looking for a Replacement for my 896 Original
Since MOTU has abandoned its products and I can no longer get my 896 repaired, I am looking to buy into another company's hardware--one that isn't going to abandon the customer after a few years. I'm also looking for a more reliable interface, with the features and sonic performance of the Original ...

Re: Where is MOTU Tech Support?
Couldn't find a phone number for them and I'd long erased the phone messages from 2 years ago (I know Dave Roberts had called me and left a message back in 2010).. under their Contact link, is a means to leave a tech support ticket. Anyway, I finally got a response, though not the response I was hop...

Where is MOTU Tech Support?
I opened another trouble ticket last week, but to date, its status is "unread". That was a week ago. Are MOTU staff on vacation all this week? My 896 original is completely dead. It gets warm, but the display is dead and Windows can no longer detect it. I had it repaired in September of 20...

Re: Stay with MOTU 896 or Upgrade to 896 Mk III?
All that remains is whether the Mk III works on my Win XP Home with no service packs and also on my workstation with SP2. I'm also hoping Sonar 7 won't have any problems.. it shouldn't, since it uses ASIO, and the Mk III should appear as an ASIO device. I just stumbled across those RightMark results...
