Well, I took a picture of the LCD and sent it to Motu tech support, and it looks like I'm going to be sending the unit back for repair. The person who helped me said it is an $80.00 flat rate, which doesn't upset me too much because I've had almost four years of heavy use with the unit.

Re: More 828 mkII probs-crackling and wonky sound

then my lcd display goes back to front and completely haywire. Mine is doing this too. If I power cycle the unit, it comes back on correctly, but then I'll be working for another 8 minutes and look down is all backwards and haywire, like you say. Is this happening for other people? For myself, I th...

Hmm, I wonder if there's something going on with a recent security update or something (I really wouldn't know what all can affect the functionality of these things deep inside the OS); because mine has been solid since I got it over three years ago; but just about a week ago it started behaving bad...

teaser video I did with DP and iMovie

So, I was sitting around looking at my new padKONTROL, thinking, "those sure are some fancy lights." So I recorded them for a minute, cut it up, edited, and made a pleasant sounding little thing to go with it. At this point, I think it might be cool enough to warrant finishing the music in...

I just picked up a 23" Cinema display a week ago, and it's big enough to let me see everything I need to at once. The 30" is sweet, but for me the 23 is enough...

Chalk up another 4.12. The only feature of 4.5 and greater that I would like, use, or need is latency compensation for busses, but for now 4.12 is working too well to muck with.

I can't imagine going back to OS9. Yeah, I hear ya, neither can I; but at the same time it's nice to have older stuff that works and retains usefulness and functionality. Gets harder everyday with computers. I'm still resisting Tiger, however, because Panther's running just fine; sometimes constant...

Reverb presets can be useful to help you learn, but personally, I'd stay away from compressor presets. Compression is completely reliant on its source material, and there's not many controls involved. I've known people to think that their compressor isn't working because they just dialed up a preset...

Re: DP QUALITY ALERT

Reasons are: supplied DP plugins are "not that good quality" in DP and the Mix engine is obviously degrading the overall sound quality. Does anyone really use stock plugs? I definitely think the URS and UAD stuff (not to mention countless others) sound every bit as decent as the offerings...

Front firewire port replacement cost?

Hey everybody-

The firewire port on the front of my 2*2 G5 died, and it's no longer under warrany. Any idea on replacement cost? Will they have to replace the entire firewire/usb/headphone jack/power switch module?

Dont know about the 2.7, but my 2.0 has not gassed up in the month she has been sitting her 18 mixes later still silent as ever. Of course my room idles between 72F and 78F Same here, my 2.0 is still solid and kicking ass, and I've really been pushing it lately. Tonight's song was 64 tracks, 38 plu...

If I'm reading your question right I think I can help. I do what you're looking to do in live situations, and we just have the sample holding after note on, and make the patch mono, and the next note on will stop it. To get everything to shut the hell up, we have a very short, nearly silent sample s...

panopticon yeah, that's what i meant by saying "not to that extent". it might make it grow by 10 megs or something, and it certainly can slow things down (dual 2.5 g5 here...), but not to the extent of 200 megs! Oh I see, I misread your comment to mean that it couldn't help sluggish...
