DP 7.24 Sluggishness - new video

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/2636460/MOTU.mov

Looking at the short movie above, does DP function this slow for anyone else? I just put in a new video card to help with re-draw to no avail. Driving me craaaaazy! Any ideas? Thanks - - - >

MTPAV & Parallels' Windows

I am a Mac user and am using parallels to run windows on my Mac. I have to use a Yamaha sequencing program and have it routed through an MTPAV. The throughput is awful - MIDI can barely get through - bottlenecks. (Macbook Pro) Anyone have this problem?

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

I'm looking online at the GeForce 8800s. I believe, but am not sure, that you have to look for Mac specific 8800s... OK - I'm actually taking it in now - decided to take it to a Mac shop and have them give it a once over. I'm really hoping that this will not only stop crashes and rogue lines, but c...

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

That's a good price. Where are you seeing that? The graphics card could be whats causing my system to slow down dramatically when I import QTs into DP8 (as described here: http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=51206). Joel, could you please let us know your specs and/or include th...

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

Are they available new still? If so try to buy one that you can return if crashes don't stop. But you'll get rid of the lines for sure, though. But that alone might not be worth $125. I'm looking online at the GeForce 8800s. I know nothing about video cards but am going on what you said and the fac...

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

Yup, I just checked and I have a 'ATY,RadeonX1900 card. I also did a RAM check and it appears to be good. I get crashes several times a day - looking like this might be it. Now .. will Apple step up to the plate? BTW, sorry but what does OP stand for? That's the card. It had numerous issues such as...

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

Now that you mention it, my Mac does crash a _lot_ and has weird re-draw issues and visual lines that show up in graphics and on the desktop - probably a video issue? I run 2 monitors. Maybe it's time for a trip to the Apple Store for the ol' Mac Pro. Never thought that video issues could make a co...

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

Wow I had no idea. I have 16 GB ram - that would be a great solution! I'll surf online to see how to test it...

Re: Back to DP7 for Now

Do not despair, DP8 is, in fact, snappier on my machine. Except a few annoyances, it's humming along. Of course, I don't have 600 tracks by default, so that may be a factor for some. That's great to hear! I can create a new file with one MIDI track and I still have excessive sluggishness, IMO. I've...

Too bad - I was hoping DP8 would be snappier - DP in general has gotten more and more sluggish over the years for me - resizing windows, etc, is just plain slow. On my Mac Pro and on my Macbook Pro. : (

Re: DP7 first impressions

Anyone running DP7 on a G5 under Tiger? Inquiring minds want to know. Dave - I was scanning the posts and ran across yours... and jumped the page ... I had to go back because I knew it was you just from the verbiage. I have Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro and still just have Leopard on the Mac Pro. ...

Re: Snow Leopard Aug 28. Who are the brave ones?

...now I may just do a re-install (maybe after Snow Leopard is installed?). I suspect it won't matter which order you do it in. In fact, you might want to just install Snow Leopard and see if the sluggishness goes away with your current DP install. That's a good idea. I truly hope I'm the ONLY pers...

Actually, that makes me more hopeful - I just thought it was something that they were working on - now I may just do a re-install (maybe after Snow Leopard is installed?).
