Re: 2408 MkIII to 828 MkIII
I was facing the same issue myself. I own a 2408 mk3 and I am upgrading to a new Mac Pro. I thought about going the firewire route, but PCI audio cards are far more stable than firewire or usb. I've always owned PCI based audio cards, and I never had a problem. I hear a lot of issues with people who...

Laptop vs Desktop
I'd like to get your opinion on recording on a laptop vs desktop. I am trying to decide if I should buy a Macbook Pro or a Mac Pro. I do basic audio editing and production in the studio. But I also want the flexibility to record live bands without lugging my G5 around. What do you guys think?

Will 1224 work w/424 PCI card?
Can I use older MOTU interfaces with the newer 424 PCI cards? For example, would I be able to use a 1224 or 2408 with the 424-PCI card? I don't see why not.

Re: 2408mk3 vs Firewire
So far, I still think PCI audio interface drivers are more stable than firewire or USB. I constantly see threads on forums regarding unstable drivers for firewire and/or USB drivers. I didn't know about Black Lion Audio. That's actually really neat that they can upgrade the converters. How much diff...

Re: low input signal ultralite
I'm not too familiar with this interface, but chances are that you need to make sure you are using Mic and not Line level. There should be a switch or option that allows you to select between Mic and Line level. Hope this helps.

Tascam TM-D1000 with 2408 - Sync Issues
I'm trying to use my Tascam digital mixer via TDIF along with my 2408mk3. I have plugged in my TDIF cable, as well as my SPDIF cable for the clock. But it still will not sync. I have played around with the clock source settings on the control panel, but something does not seem right. Does anyone hav...

Re: 2408mk3 vs Firewire
I thought about doing this. Does a firewire audio interface put any strain on the computer compared to a PCI card? The new 828 mk3 looks very impressive. That's the one I am looking at.

Re: Can you use the 2408 as a digital patchbay without PCI?
I use a 2408 mk3, and I have no issues at all. I've been using it for at least 4 years now, and it's been rock solid. I have not tried using it stand alone, but I'm pretty sure it will not work. You need the computer to route all the channels. I guess I always try it out.

2408mk3 vs Firewire
I'm using a 2408mk3 on a G5. It's time to upgrade to a Mac Pro, but now I have to purchase a $300 PCI-e card in order for my system to work. I'm debating on either paying MOTU $300 (which is ridiculous in my opinion) or just purchase one of their new firewire interfaces. I'm not using any of the TDI...
