Re: Independent films and audio

I'm with you. I can't, for the life of me, understand why you would go 99% there and at the finish line, mess it up. Makes no sense. :banghead: I found out what happened. One of the producers uploaded the wrong version of the trailer and it got tweeted out so much, they are going to leave it up. I s...

Independent films and audio

Hey guys, I just finished working on an independent film and wondered if any of you had encountered this. The film mix was fine. But a few weeks later, I was asked to do the music and mix for the trailer, which I was glad to do. I sent a standard (24bit/48k) stereo wav file of the full mix as agreed...

Re: Vienna Ensemble Pro will add MAS support !!

That is AWESOME news from VSL. I am looking forward to being able to put MOTU plugins in the VE Pro mixer. What a great development and salute to us DP users.

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features

I would like to see some sort of intelligent quantize, that, on command, interprets what your playing and automatically sets the quantize parameters, such as triplets, 1/4, 1/8, whatever would give the tightest quantize. Also, an intelligent conductor that will interpret time signatures, gliding tem...

Re: Faderport compatibility with DP8 update from Presonus

Just found this on a recent post from Presonus some days ago: https://www.facebook.com/PreSonus/posts/10152647761042634 It seems they are waking from their long nap! Lets stay tuned... Cool! I sold mine and got the alpha track, which works great. But, I always liked the design of the faderport bett...

Re: NAMM 2015: DP9

So it seems like everyone is in agreement that the announced features after a 3 year wait deserves a full point upgrade to DP "9"? Nope. Maybe 8.5. I love DP8, but I am pretty underwhelmed with the features outlined in 9 so far. I'm not even sure I'm going to upgrade. VCA faders would hav...

Re: NAMM 2015: DP9

I just hope they never go to the Avid/PT pricing structure. The way MOTU does it is PERFECT. I was just reading a thread at gearslutz about the new PT 12 update and their users are pissed. It is a good time for DP to step up marketing and pick up some of that business.

Re: 88 key controllers

I forget who did it, but someone announced a non-weighted 88-key controller at NAMM yesterday IIRC. My head is spinning from all the NAMM news though, so I may have conflated two separate announcements. After reviewing what all I saw written up yesterday, my one big takeaway is that the all-analog ...

Re: NAMM 2015: DP9

It does seem too soon for a new version update to me, but I'm sure MOTU has their reasons and maybe it is a drastic update that we will all love. I noticed that PT released v12 and the user comments on the update have been pretty bad. Usually, you see the new releases on the first day of NAMM, so I'...

Re: How did you come to using DP ?

I wish I could say I started early with DP, but before I used a computer for music, I used synth workstations. Yamaha - SY77, then EX5, which would handle the majority of drums, bass, strings, etc…, I played guitar and recorded it and whatever else I had around - DX7's, various synths, all into a 4-...

Re: iLok nonsense

I've had this happen to me a few random times. Usually, I just turn off my computer, check my dongle and make sure it is plugged in (sometimes I'll unplug it and plug it back in), and re-start my computer. Every time I've done this, it has worked. But, it has scared me a few times and definitely doe...

Re: The Top 10 Most Requested Features

I would like to see a way that you can double click on a VE Pro Instance and instead of it bringing up the server box (where you can raise the instance), it brings up the actual VE Pro Instance. If there is a way to do this, I am unaware of it, and maybe this is something VSL needs to address, rathe...

Re: Tap Tempo Issue

^^^^ Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, all I wanted was to be able to use it to find a starting tempo. Super simple. What happened after one of the recent updates (possibly 8.0), when I tap on it, it jumps me around at different locations in the sequence and I can't continue clicking because of t...

Re: 88 key controllers

I'm hoping there will be something new at NAMM. Sadly, the P105 doesn't have a mod wheel, which is a deal breaker for me. Currently, there is nothing in the 88-key market that appeals to DAW users.

Re: Tap Tempo Issue

I gave up on MOTU's tap tempo and downloaded this iPhone app. It's free and works great!
