DP on Windows: First impressions

Hi all. I'm starting a thread for people to share their first impressions of using DP on Windows. This is not meant to be a complaint festival :) -- I just thought it would be helpful for people to compare their experiences so far. My background I've been using Digital Performer on the Mac since 200...

Re: DP 8

Hi all. Back to the topic of DP and Windows ... Personally I'm really excited about this. MOTU can now better leverage their great hardware by offering PC users a complementary software solution as well. This should create some healthy competition and innovation in the PC audio world, which has been...

Hi Don,

So, the PowerLogix had 7455's ... with 2 L3 caches as well, I assume?

If so, that's similar to the GigaDesigns dual 1.33.

What were your impressions?

Hi all. To answer the question about "why upgrade this tower" ... 1) I'm planning on getting a new MacBook pro, but I'm waiting to save real cash for it. 2) The tower runs OS9, and potentially any PowerPC OSX apps/plugs that might not work well on the Intel Macs. 3) The G4 tower is easily ...

Hi all. Thanks for the replies so far! RE: CUDA/Reset switch: Yes, I pushed that. I had to to get the tower to boot after the upgrade. RE: FireWire / Tiger problems: I'm running Panther (10.3.9) so that shouldn't be an issue? I found out that I'm eligible for a refund if I want it, so my realistic o...

Thanks for the comments so far.

The CPU Activity Monitor does show middle-to-high bars on both CPUs during the test project, so I don't think the CPUs are idle.

Dual 1.4 G4 upgrade worse than a single 933? (DP 4.6)

Hello all. I just successfully upgraded my Quicksilver G4 933 to a dual 1.4 G4 (Powerlogix, dual 7447As). The original processor had an L3 cache, the new ones do not. Before I performed the upgrade, I loaded a project with a few VIs that was giving CPU peaks every few seconds at buffer = 64 (MOTU 89...

Same track, different attack?

Hi all. I just bought MSI and I'm loving the sounds. I'm also new to composing with more-professional instrument VIs (I just used Reason NN-XT presets before). I'd like to know how to write one track of MIDI for one instrument (and thus have one line of notation), but be able to change the playing t...

Re: Triton Extreme & DP 4.5

I would call MOTU tech support and ask about the support for the Triton Extreme.

If it IS supported they will show you how to get it working the right way. If it's not supported they will know best how to get the most out of it until the patches are updated.

Re: Heavy tracks done with DP 4.52

For the genre, this recording is masterfully done. Good work!.

However, I can't listen to vocals like that without thinking about the Cookie Monster. Then I laugh.
