Re: Motu 8pre outputs help for newbie
MOTU firewire units have complete perfect reliability and useability on all versions of Windows. Anyone else telling you something else is just plain out wrong. As far as using many headphones at once, perhaps a headphone distribution amp is in order. Here is a quick and dirty example, as I'm sure y...

Re: Motu 828 mk1 Windows XP
On the flipside, if the Device Manager isn't showing anything new, while powering the MOTU on, that doesn't automatically and necessarily mean the fw chip(s) are damaged...there are other causes of that too...but hardware failure is most likely of all scenarios (from user error). In addition to the ...

Re: Motu 828 mk1 Windows XP
If the Device Manager is not being populated by the MOTU or "Unknown Device" even, on machines known positively to work well with other firewire units, it is quite possible that the firewire chip(s) is/are blown on the MOTUs you are trying to get to work. So this begs the question: When p...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
I was just reading the manual for the 424 systems. It seems they operate differently than the FW/USB units in ways I didn't know about. Here is the manual: http://cdn-data.motu.com/manuals/pci-audio/PCI-424_User_Guide_Win.pdf I did find interesting items on page 64. It says "Mismatched sample r...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
Damn, sorry to hear about that, because like you say, it does seem like a 192 issue. I use Cubase 5 too and like it a lot. In case you missed it in all of the above, have you tried a factory reset on the 192 yet at all? MOTU is probably going to have to fix this thing. Hopefully they don't charge to...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
It would also be a good idea to do a Windows Update after all of the above. Your current Windows version is "Hardwareabstraktionsebene Version = "6.1.7601.17514" Mine is 7601.18247.x86fre.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532. Although mine is 32 bit and yours is 64, your 17514 will be updated to 1...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
In no specific order of importance, things I would do to the machine. 1) Update Flash. Do this twice. Once for Internet Explorer and again for all other browsers you might be using: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer.html 2) You have a Gigabyte motherboard, but it is not specifying which. T...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
Well, I can't see a factory reset on the unit helping with your issue, but it definitely falls into the category of something that should be tried. If the 192 is doing it on multiple systems with 2 different card types even, something is amiss with the unit - OR - both systems have the same problem ...

Re: Motu Audio Express sudden no sound problem
You're welcome.
IEEE 1394 is for firewire ports, and I'm sure your laptop just simply does not have one, hence it missing in the Device Manager correctly as it should be.
How's the MOTU going? Sound working?

Re: Motu Audio Express sudden no sound problem
Cool deal. Ya, whatever hub you have should work well after you update the USB 3.0 driver and firmware. Then everything else falls into place. Yep, let us know how it all goes after the above and we will get to the bottom of it all if need be still. For a VERY entertaining thread regarding the exact...

Re: Motu Audio Express sudden no sound problem
It's not a great idea to run the MOTU on any hub. I suggest these things: 1) Update the laptop bios to newest available. 2) Install the latest USB 3.0 driver from the laptop's website. 3) If there is a firmware update specifically for the USB 3.0 from the laptop's website, install that too. 4) Plug ...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
No doubt, James. You're welcome! Vanielik, the file you uploaded is only helpful a little at the moment. For some reason, you made a .txt file instead of an .nfo file. What will be worlds more helpful is if you click File | Save on the opened screen instead. It will save an .nfo file with all the re...

Re: PCIe-424 + HD192 pops/cracks
I'm very good at spotting issues or potential issues not just in audio systems, but all Windows systems for whatever reason. If you'd like to, you can upload your system info to any online host then paste a link here. First though, check if you have files in C:\Windows\Minidump If you do, copy them ...

Re: Extracting device name strings from driver
I'm sure you know this, but in the off chance you do not, maybe this can help. When you go to the Device Manager (devmgmt.msc) and right click the "Motu Audio" then go to Properties - then Details tab - then change the dropdown to say Hardware Ids, it gives a specific unit value. For examp...
