I know this is a broad question, but where should the input meters be if I have the input trim knob turned over 3/4 up? Right now it is at (24) or 3 marks up. Only when I turn it up almost completely all the way up do I get above this. Is this right? This is the same whether I am using a line input ...

I have tried other mics, cables, phantom power, etc. It is the same for all 8 channels. I just hooked it up to a mixer and ran it through that and the meters work fine. So, would that mean that the preamps on the 896 are not working? And would all of the channels be bad?
