Re: Interface causing clicking/generally unpleasant noises?

You can always use more ram so that's not money wasted. Are your audio files on your startup drive? That can cause major slowdowns & problems. For this to work, you really need a second drive for all your audio files.

Re: NEWBIE DP Convert Which I/O?

If you only need 2 channels I highly recommend the Metric Halo ULN2 or any of the other I/O boxes they make. They are rock solid, sound great & integrate very well with DP.

It's been a while since I have used DP but I think hitting the Escape key at least gets rid of it, although you have to keep hitting the Escape key everytime one pops up.

I have to second the Metric Halo stuff. Excellent AD/DA converters and especially in the case of the ULN2, killer pres that stomp all over anything Motu has out. The MH software also works extremely well with DP!

Non UB plugs would only cause a problem on Intel machines.

You can only run one unit, but there is an upgrade slot in the bottom, which will let you double the power down the line.
Yea, that slot doubles the power(or lack of it) from 8 tracks to 16 tracks @96k!!!

Ouote from Focusrite's FAQs Q: What••™s the expansion card all about? A: This is for people wanting more instances at higher sample rates. Without the expansion card, the number or instances of the Liquid Mix software (maximum number of channels that can be processed simultaneously) reduces as the s...

Mine's that way too. I have just skimmed through it but there seem to be a lot of images that are useless, retangular black splotches. So much for quality control.

The way I do it is create a new empty take on the same track, listen to the takes I have, copy and paste the parts I want on the new blank take.

Cuemix DSP is on the PCI card, not the interface.

Select the area between 1l1l000 & 8l8l000 & hit COMMAND-J (Snip) That will delete what you have selected & move everything else forward.

I haven't compared the ULN2 to Motu firewire devices. All the Motu gear I have used was PCI based but I have never heard anyone complain about the MH drivers eating up CPU cycles. They work very well with DP!

Another vote for the Metric Halo ULN2. Great unit plus MH has had near zero latency (no one has zero latency) with the MIO console long before Motu.
