Questions about the timeline in "songs"
Hi Guys I've been reading through the DP10 manual, and am close to making the call to move to DP instead of (or at least concurrently with) Logic Pro in my studio. The flexibility of chunks, and the real-time clips feature launched in DP10 are both very compelling advantages that would really suit m...

Re: Freezing tracks and de-loading instruments from RAM
Pretty sure this is how it works: At the end of an instrument freeze track operation the instrument track is disabled (ENA button in Tracks window). As far as I can tell, disabling an instrument track unloads all the samples from any sample based instrument. I just checked this in Activity monitor....

Freezing tracks and de-loading instruments from RAM
Hi guys, I'm a long-term Logic user, but we're gearing up to do some gigs using looping. I'd been eyeing off Ableton, but was very excited to see that DP10 includes an Ableton-like clip playing system. One thing I really struggle with in Logic is managing my RAM for big orchestral projects. I use pl...

I would have thought so, yes. I'll set up the demo version and see how I go.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Thanks. Should be more than capable.

Hey MLC,MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Yeloop, what is your machine, configuration, OS, and RAM amount
I'm using a MacBook Pro late 2015, it has a (from memory) 2.8GHz i7 processor, it's up to date with the most recent version of MacOS, and it has 16GB of 1600MHz RAM.
Cheers,
Mike

Re: DP 9.1 is here
Wow! That's pretty incredible performance. At 512, I can absolutely guarantee that with Logic Pro, there's no way I could track any kind of part. Even slow pads wouldn't really be viable with that kind of delay, let alone percussion or piano parts, etc. It sounds like DP9 really does deliver far low...

Re: DP 9.1 is here
Latency is nearly non-existent now. So small at 512. Wow! Are you saying that even if you're running a buffer of 512 samples, you can still play virtual instruments with hardly any latency? (Or run audio sources through effect plug-ins, with the same result?). If so, that's pretty amazing! In my ex...

Equivalent to "elastic audio" or "flex time" in DP?
Hey again guys, Hoping for some help before I purchase DP. I've seen that DP has a strong tool set for pitch editing built in, similar to Melodyne. I'm wondering if there is anything in DP for altering the timing of specific notes or hit points, like elastic audio in Pro Tools or flex time in Logic?...

New to DP: Import parts of a project into a new project?
Hi guys I'm a long term Logic user (since the mid 90s!), looking to add DP to my studio for a move into soundtrack work. I have a question: in Logic it's possible to easily import a track, or several tracks, from an existing Logic project into the current one. You can easily specifiy when you don't ...

Re: Using chunks for sections of a trailer
Thanks very much for this reply - really appreciate it! This helps a lot! Just another question that you may also be able to help with: can chunks themselves be placed anywhere on the minutes and seconds timeline? So for example, if I have a cue at 15:27:03, can I start the chunk exactly there? Thes...

Using chunks for sections of a trailer
Hi guys I'm trialling DP9 with a potential plan to switch over, specifically for soundtrack work. I've been a Logic user for the last twenty years or so. I am very interested in the chunks feature, but have a couple of questions. If I wanted to use a number of different chunks for the different sect...

High track count with low buffers for low latency?
Hi Guys, I'm looking at making a move away from Logic 9, mainly due to the way it handles multiple external MIDI devices (very clumsily!), but also due to persistent bugs that are never fixed, and Apple's general apathy in maintaining the software. I'm looking at Cubase 6 (as a previous Cubase user)...

Re: Does DP7 have a "flex time" or "elastic time" type tool?
Yes. It takes a lower profile in DP, because DP was the first to have it implemented at a level that was practical and didn't produce "chipmunk" or "whale" sounds. In other words, it's been there for well over a decade in DP, with refinements over the years. In DP you can create...

Does DP7 have a "flex time" or "elastic time" type tool?
Hi Guys I've been held back from moving to DP because it doesn't have a tool for moving audio around like Logic's Flex Time, or ProTools' Elastic Time. This tool is really handy (indeed necessary) for tightening up parts, right in the arrange window. Does DP7 introduce something like this? Cheers Mike

Flex-time / Elastic Audio equivalent in DP6?
Hi Guys Hoping you can help. For various reasons I am considering alternatives to Cubase (latency issues on my Mac) and Logic (bugs and too many inconsistencies)... DP is being recommended to me by a lot of people as the unsung hero of the DAW world... I'd love to know, though... what kind of equiva...
