Actually, I think you may it to be compatible. If you look at Presonus's web site, it says "No driver required" as did my FireBox, which works fine.

Can't say the same for my FireStudio Lightpipe ... :-(

Are you using the UltraLite's power supply? I was thinking maybe it can't provide phantom power when using it bus powered ...

In the MOTU setup, you have to tell it what output goes to the MAINS.

After that, in Audio MIDI Setup, tell it to direct sound to the MOTU unit, and under Speakers, set both STEREO and MULTICHANNEL to the proper audio stream.

Is it possible that your Mic requires 48v Phantom power, and the Ultralite is not providing it?

I could be wrong, but I don't think you want to be using the PCI-424 SMPTE as the clock source. The main reason I say this is because nowhere in your message did you mention an external SMPTE source, which would normally be required. What I've done is to use an Apogee D/A converter, and run it's outpus via light-pipe into my MOTU 896.
